I guess this is their official announcement? I swear they said that they are shutting down last month, or maybe I had just heard that.

That makes 2 breweries announcing in the last month (Wicked Beaver in Lubbock was the other...but...yeah...they were lacking in many areas).

And so it begins.....the inevitable winnowing out of the weakest in the rapidly expanding craft beer landscape.

I've never had a Firewheel beer (live in Houston), but when your official brewery Twitter account is 90% comprised of untappd check-ins of other breweries' beers, you could have done a much better job at marketing your brand. That said, I listened to a podcast recently featuring their founder and he seemed like a really good dude. Wish them well going forward.

I was betting that around 5 would shut down this year due to just making not so great beer. So far, 3 have shut down (Wicked Beaver, Firewheel and Fort Bend).

3 out of 180+ is not bad.

Sad to see a brewery close. Texas is getting better and better every day. Whether it's new breweries distributing here, or new instate breweries opening up, average just won't cut it like it could 10 years ago.

I'm guessing this brewery will close before it opens. Lord almighty, look at that awful clip art. The funniest part to me, is that they describe their IPA as being an "all-day" IPA. It's abv is over 6%

    Lolz

I don't see how they think Four Corners Hefe is a good name. I do not see that one going over well.

The worst is the Antoberfest.. Who thought it was a good idea to do a Japanese Anime of a German beer wench?

Wow those are almost as bad as Texas Big Beer..

Pretty sure Four Corners Brewing might have a problem with that as well...

I ended up sending them an email letting them know - better to take care of the problem before a brewery actually opens (saves everyone time and money). They seemed like they were going to take care of it.

And they are likely changing the name after Four Corners contacted them via phone.

Yeah, Wicked Beaver was just bad.

A good brewery in the Lubbock area would KILL.... but Wicked Beaver out of Frenship was just poor in many areas.
