I'm excited! I was able to get half priced tickets through Citypages last week, but tickets for Firkin Fest at the Happy Gnome are officially on sale. While I've never been to Winterfest, Firkin Fest last year was my favorite beer fest experience. Just an awesome vibe in a fairly small space that didn't feel overcrowded.
They've won it the last two years for sure. I found a post from 2012 that suggested they had won previous years as well. They had a big booth last year that was decorated, so it was pretty easy to remember them when you're looking around the tent when it comes to voting, so from that perspective I'm not surprised. I've never voted at a beer fest, so I can't say what I'd forget / remember.
Info on firkin fest? Sounds like I'm going for the first time this year and don't really know how everything works. Such as when to arrive and all that good stuff.
It's a noon start, I'd try to be in line at least a half hour prior and you should be able to find street parking somewhere in the neighborhood (might be a few blocks away). It's not really that different than any other beer fest, so enjoy some beer and drink plenty of water.
The weather is always unique. My first time, tent still had snow in it. My second time, it was in the 70s, and they opened the tent. My third time, less snow, more cold. And sadly, I'm missing this year. Which probably means it'll be 70 again. That was awesome.
