After 5 extract batches, I'm hoping to brew my first all grain batch on Sunday. I want to make an APA with a lot of fruity, hoppy flavor. I've been playing with brewersfriend and I am looking for some feed back on what I'm thinking so far:

    7 lbs 2 Row
    5 lbs Maris Otter
    8 oz Crystal 40
    4 oz Carapils

    .25 oz Centennial 60 min
    .5 oz Simcoe 15 min
    .5 oz Mosaic 15 min
    1 oz Amarillo 5 min
    .75 oz Simcoe 5 min
    1 oz Mosaic flame out
1 oz Amarillo dry hop 10 days
1 oz Mosaic dry hop for 10 days

    WLP001 2L starter

    1.060 OG, 1.014 FG, 6.06% ABV, 42.75 IBUs, 6.95 SRM

The grist looks good enough to me. 2% of carapils is probably unnecessary. You will have a fruity profile. But for even more fruitiness, double the hop stand.

For the hop schedule itself, I would obtain the majority of my cheap IBUs from the 60 minute addition (perhaps with a supplemental addition at 30 for more of a round bitterness) and then focus on 0 and DH for potent flavor and aroma.

I would up your bittering addition. Recipe sounds yummy!

Looks good! If you want fruity, you might consider an English ale yeast. Wyeast 1968 is a great one.

It's bordeline, but given the late/DH hop schedule, I'd call this more of an IPA. But it looks fine. Personally I would drop the carapils, because you're going to get plenty of foam retention from the hops. But then I never use carapils in IPAs. If it's body you're after (and not more foam retention per se) you could mash a little higher than you were planning.

I could take or leave the carapils. It's not necessary but I doubt it will hurt anything either. It's only 4 oz.

Otherwise, I'd say I like it. It may be closer to an IPA but so be it.
