Similar story for me, except mine takes place in Costa Rica and I was 18. Cerveza Imperial! Still love the logo.

I went to a gastropub for my 21st that paired my meal with beer for each course. So I didn't pick the beer specifically, but it was a pilsner of some sort. The first beer I actually ordered by name at a bar was Live Oak Hefeweizen.

Probably Miller Lite. I know my first beer purchase at a liquor store when I turned 21 was MGD :flushed:.

Things have changed for me to this day.

I think it was Rolling Rock.

I spent my 21st at the Blue Frog Grog & Grill in my hometown: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1691. I believe the first thing I ordered was a sampling flight.

Though, come to think of it, I may have gone out at midnight the night before and ordered a Bud Light at whatever local dive was still open. I can't remember.

I don't even remember actually buying my first beer at a bar. I think I was 18 or so? It was probably Bud Light, or maybe Budweiser...

I do remember my first legally purchased beer at a bar was a Bud Light. It was a shitty bar with really no selection. Later that evening I went out to a restaurant and had a few better offerings.

I remember buying beer for the first time at a carryout. I intentionally left my i.d. in the car with my friends (I think I was 19 or 20), grabbed a 30-pack of Keystone Light and took it to the counter at UDF. The cashier asked for my i.d. and I took out my wallet, looked at it, and said "aw man..." because I had "forgotten" the i.d. "That's okay," she says, "I can tell by the hair on your arms you're old enough." So here's to having hairy arms!

Rolling rock was my first 21 beer. I had a bar that served me when I was 18 and then I drank Zima.

I sat down with my old man and we each had a Franziskaner on tap. I remember it very well, but I couldn't tell you what my last beer was that night.

I remember ordering a beer at a bar in Italy when I was on a school trip. I had about three swallows, gave it to a friend, and ordered a glass of red wine. That was a fun trip.

The drinking age was 18 in NYS when I was growing up so my first bar beer would probably have been a shared pitcher of Schaefer at a pizza joint/bar when I was 16 or so. I hung around with three other guys and out of the four of us, three were quite tall and the oldest looking guy was the shortest. We never got proofed, or at least very rarely. Went to undergrad school in Colorado and bam!! the drinking age was 21 for everything but 3.2% beer. My first bar beer there was definitely a 3.2% Coors since I had never had one before. My first and almost last. Switched to Oly after that.

My first beer was at a Red Robins in Irvine, CA. I'm pretty sure it was a Coors Light. Coors Light is what got me started on this beer journey, so I can't knock it.

The first time I bought beer with my 21 year old ID was a Mickey's 40oz at a gas station on my way home from work. For the life of me, I can't remember the first bar I went to or what I ordered. It was most definitely something that sucked though...good on you for being one of those that is ahead of the game early on.
