    Stone : Ruination.

When I first had it, I fell in love with Humulus Lupulus.

Back in the mid to late 80s, my hippie friends brought back some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale from California. I called it hippie beer because I thought that hops tasted like pot. The first time I was overwhelmed by hops was when I first tried Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. I thought it tasted like I bit into a pine cone. I remember waking up the next morning with a lingering taste of pine cone that lasted throughout the day.

Most of the younger beer drinkers will find this laughable, Heineken, mid 70's. I remember when Moosehead became popular in the lower 48, sometime in the late 70's how amazing we thought the hop content was! One of the few instances where times changed for the better

Being a young American in Kent County, England (1971) tasting smooth and what I thought to be soapy beers. I soon realized that these local beers had flavors and qualities that American beers lacked.

Surly Furious. It was just this odd, piney tasting beer. Then moved on to Abrasive and it pretty much changed my world.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo. I remember it being so bitter and hoppy at the time I could hardly drink it. But now its delish and pales in comparison to a lot of the IPA's and DIPA's that I now enjoy.

Green Flash WCIPA was the first beer I tried where I actually tasted hops, and didn't like it at the time. The first one where I could really begin to enjoy the flavor was SNPA. From there, my taste for IPAs has absolutely blossomed. I haven't revisited Green Flash since that day though... This thread may change that.

Dogfish Head 60 min IPA..... Just about poured the bottle out, but I pushed through it. I think it was my first craft beer. I thoroughly enjoy IPAs now.
