As part of a New Years Resolution, I am going to be brewing my own six-pack for the first time.

So start it the list of the newbie questions...

Before I get going with recipes and such, what would at least be a list of some needed equipment to just simply make a 6 pack?

5 gallons is a pretty well established 'standard' batch size. Thus, brewing kits tend to be geared toward that size batch. (That's about eight 6-packs, give or take). More importantly, there's really no difference in effort between brewing one 6-pack or eight. My recommendation is that you simply go all in. It's not likely you'll give it up once you see how easy it is.

It's a three to five hour brew day either way.

I always encourage new brewers to find a homebrew club. Most don't require a membership fee unless you want to join. If you want to ask questions, drink beer, and find someone who will let you sit in on a brew session, you'd be surprised how many people WANT to help you along.

Six or more, if you add in the bullshitting sessions and drinking beer with friends.

This guy's a newbie. There's no way he has that kind of endurance yet.

and i second the five gallon batch thing. that six pack is gonna go pretty quickly, plus you won't have any left over to drink while (ok fine, after) you brew your next batch!

Hopefully I will be lucky to have that happen...

Thanks everyone for the advice, tips etc. Nice to know this isn't going to be a lot out of pocket. Already found a place to get the bottling so again, much appreciation.

    Anymore tips will be appreciated...

+1 to brewsader's advice to read www.howtobrew.com , either free online, or the later print edition. It may take a couple hours, and you can ignore some later chapters that don't apply to a first (probably extract) batch, but once you have read it, you'll probably have specific questions to ask here, rather than just asking for random tips. The book itself basically is the collection of tips we would give you, if we were organized enough.
