    Greetings. I've been wanting to start trading as I live in SD and figured I have access to some beers worthy of trading for some not available in California. But I may have a more complex first trade. Here's the deal. I have a Vertical Epic 03-03-03. It's the only one I have, purchased here in North County back then. Been sitting in the dark ever since. I'm not doing a tasting, so figured I would turn it into some beers I can't get my hands on. Full disclosure, I did list it on ebay and it was pulled. I genuinely wanted to turn it into beer money and thought that would be the easier route. I'm not looking for a rare-for-rare trade, but rather some "standard" beers from the midwest and back east. (Bell's, Three Floyds, Heady - I'll make a more specific list before posting). I'm sincerely interested in trying highly rated beers that are locals elsewhere, and I'd really rather someone that really wants the '03 should enjoy it. Just looking for advice on a fair trade. Transaction-wise, I can offer excellent, prompt communication, and quality packing and shipping. Ideally this could initiate a trading relationship with someone. Thanks.

    This sounds like a personal ad.

    Just post a FT/ISO and I am sure you will get bites.

    I agree but at least he owned up to it. To the OP: Just post an ISO for some Heady or whatever and see what happens

    you might have better luck with alpine beers, I am sure people would trade heady or other good stuff for alpine.

    Ha! I actually thought that when I was writing it. I just wanted to be straight up and sincere. But seriously, when I read some of the trading threads, I'm not so sure I want to get into it. Almost seems like asking for a beat down. Not sure I'm ready to get jumped in to another subculture with a heap of unwritten laws.

    As for trading other locals, yeah, that's the plan. Eventually. But I can't even get friggin' Alpine 35 miles from the brewery. If I drive out there I'm drinking what I buy.

    Hey bro, don't worry about it. Getting yelled at by strangers over the internet really can't affect you in the real world. In time, you'll learn to like it. :sunglasses:

    As far as the beer, you could trade that for several regular bombers of locals, or one really nice bottle. I wouldn't say a Bolt Cutter or Bourbon County Coffee would be out of your reach. Forget Cherry, though. It's a ghost (forgive my regionalism, but those are the hot buttons in my area right now).

    What are you talking about?? Everybody knows that if one person in the distribution area got super hooked up, then it's easy to find everywhere and shouldn't be hard to trade for.

    Lean how distro works, dude. :sunglasses:

    The 03.03.03 doesn't command the trade value that people might expect.
    In terms of "value" I'd say it's worth;
    $25-$35 of limited distro/special releases
    $35-$50 of "quality/highly rated" locals.

    The amount will vary based on who you trade with and which beers are involved.

    What Alewatcher and dvelcich said. If somebody is going to go for the Diagonal Epic (real talk), they are going to use their big guns on the first release of the series and not any of the others.

    Thanks for the feedback all, and to AleWatcher for some frame of reference. I'm gonna pull together an ISO list.

    When putting together your ISO, be mindful of distribution overlaps. Check out www.seekabrew.com for some good info.
