Hey guys, I'm a Florida BA and will be making my first trip up to Boston. Will be there from June 1-5. I'll be staying in downtown Boston and I'm wondering what the great places are up here. If anyone could give me some tips that would be great. Top 3 breweries to hit? Top 3 craft bars? If anyone just has some great food places that would be cool too. Also, I will have access to a car but I've heard the traffic sucks and the train system is pretty great so just wondering about peoples opinions on getting around. Most of the highly rated breweries (Night Shift, Jacks Abby) are pretty far from where I'm staying. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheers! Will
Trillium. Traffic sucks, the train system is not great. Make sure you visit the Tam while you are in town.
Seaport District - Trillium & Harpoon for breweries. Trillium has a very small tasting room, no on premise retails sales. Harpoon has a massive 300 seat beer hall. Row 34 for great seafood and they have a great beer selection. Cambridge - Cambridge Brewing Co., Mead Hall & Lord Hobo ... all within walking distance of each other. Allston - Deep Ellum for a killer selection of brews and right next door is their sister restaurant The Lone Star Taco Bar ... tacos. Downtown Crossing / Boston Commons - Both Stoddard's and JM Curley should be on your list IMO. Kenmore Square / Fenway - Lower Depths (cash only), Eastern Standard and Island Creek Oyster House (great seafood). Beer Works is worth a quick trip as well if you have never been. The traffic can suck but if you are getting around between 10am-2pm it is not so bad. Both Night Shift and Jack's Abby are worth checking out.
Jason nailed all the hilights. I'd also offerThe Salty Pig in the Back Bay for a pretty decent tap list and great Charcuterie/Pizza/Pasta. If you want an upscale dining option without beer focus, I hear Craigie on Main in Cambridge is simply amazing. Reservations would probably be a must
http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-boston-summer-13-edition.99268/ Aside from a couple slight changes, this is still the best guide you'll find. The trains don't suck. Use them. Also, if you time it right traffic-wise, Night Shift is a 12 minute drive from downtown.
we do growlers (2 sizes, 32 and 64oz)! bottles too...selection rotates often, but for current list, check here, there's a FAQ + some directions linked the top of the page as well. but send us questions that aren't covered here: [email protected] cheers, JC http://www.trilliumbrewing.com/wordpress_blog/beers/find-trillium-2/
