It's usually on only once or twice a year. They didn't allow growler fills the last time it was on.

All recommendations were spot on. Did the flight and had a couple more pints along with the Pliny bites, etc. Also taking home a bunch of bottles. Hope it survives the flight!! Thanks guys!

Hey, so one question about Saturdays....so there will typically be a line before they open, they let people in in groups, does the line persist all day? Would coming after lunch but before dinner (say 2-230) be a tad less packed? It would be four of us so popping into the bar wouldn't really be an option....

Get there before opening and you should be ok. It gets exponentially worse as Saturday during lunch and the afternoon.

$63 for a 12 pack of bottles, if i go again i will take a growler. Arrive early or you'll wait over an hour and to avoid traffic if your coming from the east (sonoma raceway). I don't think it would be less packed around 2 but if that's the time you are going don't go hungry. The flight is awesome, I only cared for about 4 of the 20+ beers, but there is something for everyone. Also, they don't take food orders at the outside seating area.

When we left around 2:30 PM, the line was a bit longer than when we get there (11:30 AM). It took us about 20 min to get seated in spite of us getting there late (Traffic is bad coming from the city due to construction). I would suspect, it would take longer to get seated the later it gets.

One thing we found out was that, on Saturdays, the flights are quite popular so you might have to wait before you get them (we had to wait about 30 min to get ours but it was worth the wait).

While you're sobering up (or simply if you're interested) go to the Charles S. Schultz Museum. You'll really like it even if you don't particularly care for the Peanuts cartoon strip. Worth a half hour/45 minute side track.

Anyone know if they will be open on Labor Day? Looked around the website and couldn't find anything about special hours or closures

They'll be open and they'll also be wall-to-wall ****. I believe Labor Day is the busiest weekend of the year for wine country and that includes the beer spots.

On a Saturday it will be busy try and get there about half an hour early. I believe the parking meter is 2 hours so make sure you bring change. If you can not find parking in front there is plenty of parking in the back. If you sit in the bar it will get crowded quickly and people will be hovering around you for your table. So try and get a table in the main dining area, less crowded. The food is pretty tasty I typically enjoy the Pliny bites. The sampler is a great deal for the beers they also sell tasting size beers which if you are interested in trying a few different styles and want more than a 2 oz tasting pour that the sampler gives you. Beer purchases vary from my experience but 12 pliny and 6 blind pig were avail the last time I went about a month ago. Also if you are in no hurry try 3rd street ale works a couple blocks away they have good beer and there is a great bottle shop in Rohnert Park that tends to have SARA and Cellermaker beers on tap.

Everyone has handled the RR beer and food advice perfectly so i'll pipe in with this. Since you're already up there, do go to some wineries, this is Sonoma afterall. Also if time or road path permits, drive down the Russian River valley to the Ocean (tomales bay)

It's a term I picked up from a long time ago from a very non-PC early web cartoon. Honestly, I only know of like two other people who have seen it, but it slayed us back then. You didn't have to work too hard in the early days of internet content to make people laugh.

Any, you kids have fun at RR. I'll be up there with all the other schlubs at the upcoming bottle release and what have yous.

It had better be an RRBC growler because they don't fill anything else. And you are wrong about food service on the patio--they have waiters for the outdoor tables every time I have been there and people are sitting outside (many, many times).

Another term a navy friend uses for a sausage party is "nut to butt," which is what the basic training instructors shouted at them to get them lined up.

We had ordered food inside then decided to sit outside when the waiter told us they wouldn't have a waiter outside but that we could order inside and they would take it out to us, so that was my understanding. They did bring the food we ordered so it worked out. Guess i won't be getting a growler, not trying to start a collection. Went to knee deep brewery last weekend and they just wrapped over the sierra nevada growler and slapped a label on it. They will fill other growlers as long as they have the flip top. Wish all breweries did this.
