First World Problems LIF (US + EU)

My friend, who was diagnosed with a heraditary liver ailment, informed me last week that he's pretty much fully healed up after a lengthy detox diet and medical treatment, has resumed drinking the occasional weekend beer and has picked up on homebrewing again.

This got me thinking about my first world problems and I'd like to take the time to dedicate a LIF to them. Not as much a morality thing to tell people to shut up about them, but more as a celebration. Embrace your first world problems and imagine it could always be worse.

So basically, here's the first world problem I encountered a few weeks ago.

An acquaintance of mine, who is currently studying abroad, contacted me saying he might have some beer for me and that he would send it to me if I covered his expenses. I said that was fine, and paid him. I never got the package, and it turns out it had leaked in transit and was "destroyed" (cheers, postal workers!).

Here are the questions:

1. What was the beer?
2. Where was the package sent from (which country)?
3. How much money did I end up losing? (In USD, exchange rate as per November 26th 2012, one decimal)
4. Postal services compensated me with stamps. How much was the total value of the stamps I received? (Same rules as nr. 3)

Here are the first two hints:
- The beer has won an award this year.
- The beer is in one of my favorite styles.

The winner will receive at least one or two bottles of decent geuze, maybe some homebrew.

Here's three hints, please limit yourself to 1 guess every day. Days are 12.00 AM to 11.59 PM in my time zone (GMT +1), so basically everyone here gets a new guess by now

- The amount of money refunded in stamps is significantly lower than what I lost

 

When I say there were no correct answers on any fronts so far, that means America, Canada and Denmark are out Extra hint: UK, Germany and Sweden are also wrong. It's also not Belgium, as he's studying abroad in my perspective, i.e. as a Belgian
