My first craft beer experience is pretty embarrassing I tried a Bells 2 hearted ale in my apartment by myself (thank god) I took one drink and seriously ran to my kitchen sink and threw up and poured the rest of it out. I remember thinking that it couldn't have been beer it didn't taste like what I was used too drinking(Bud Light) and swore it was perfume in the bottle. Pretty sad I know I was 21 at the time and in 11 years my taste buds have definitely taken a turn for the better.

My first craft beer experience was with Weyerbacher QUAD. It was my sophomore year of college, and my group of regular College buddy drinkers were sitting around pounding Natty Ice one night. We decided that the Natty Ice just wasn't strong enough anymore, so we googled the strongest beer we could buy at the time in the state of PA. It was Weyerbacher's QUAD at 11.8%. We drove to the store the next day, bought a case of QUAD, and 4 of use decided to try to drink an entire 6 pack each in one sitting. It was a bad decision. We all puked by the end of the night, and I didn't really get into craft beer for another year. But that was my first experience. Cheers!

To this day, it's still hard for me to drink that beer.

I had struggled to choke down so many BMC's at parties, I had just about given up on beer. Then, while cleaning out the cellar one day, I randomly found a forgotten case of Homebrew imperial oatmeal stout that my dad had placed there over a decade earlier. Talk about a great awakening... Tasting flavors like chocolate, licorice and leather ("are you sure this is beer?") just blew my freaking mind. Thus, it began.

Nice First LIF! Ran my first one a week ago for fun, still haven't won one though.

 

Zombie Dust was your first true love. You mistakenly drank it out of the bottle, then you preceded to grab another and high five your buddy that did you that solid. I don't really remember my first sip, but I remember Bell's Double Cream Stout just knocking my socks off! I think I drank one every night that winter, still love that beer. Cheers!

Thanks for the chance. My first experience with craft was in college, when the local place we got beer from (we were underage) didn't have any cheap beer left. We decided to pick up a case of Sam Adam's Octoberfest, and I was hooked. From that point on it was difficult for me to drink any BMC beers, but when you are a broke college kid you don't have much of a choice.

First craft beer experience was living in Milwaukee, we went on the Sprecher Brewery tour and I loved the Abbey Triple since then I've never turned back!

My first craft beer experience was actually my first experience with beer. At the age of 13, myself and 4 friends sat down in my mom's basement with a bottle of Sam Adams stolen from her fridge and took turns sipping it and passing the bottle. It was the worst thing I had ever tasted at that point in my life. Anytime I drank after that I ran from Sam Adams until at about age 19, when I realized the glory of the rising craft beer movement (this was 2000) and haven't gone back to BMC ever since.

my 1st craft experience was at my quizzo bar in philly... the quizzo special was $3 yards IPA pints. i choked it down only because i hate wasting beer. my friends laughed at the terrible face i made. much like a few people above, i wanted to spit it out and thought i was going to throw up! i'm doing much better with my IPAs now, haha.

My first craft beer eh...that's a tough one. I think it was Shiner's black lager, I was on a mission to find a beer for me and little did I know the world that would open before me.

It's like some yawning chasm opened up in front of me while Shiner gleefully pushed me over the edge. Falling....I remember thinking will I ever come out of this place? It doesn't seem to be in the cards, all the while my wallet is screaming at me to stop, sobbing uncontrollably like someone come to the realization their life is all but extinguished.

My liver joins this cacophony with her incessant wailing, all the while Shiner whispers to me seductively drawing my attention elsewhere.

"Don't you want to be happy?" she asks, knowing full well the answer I shall give.

I stammer..."B..b..bbut my health, I just don't know what's real anymore..."

"It's ok" she whispers "you never have to be dissatisfied with beer again"

I haven't looked back and much to my liver and wallet's chagrin I don't intend to.

*Full disclosure* I haven't won an LIF yet but I think I'm very close to winning one that ends on the 26th. Who knows what fate I hold though.
