    As far as first craft beer, i really don't know what it was. In the beginning, i drank a lot of BMC and rolling rock. i also tended to go for some leinenkugel's fairly often. The craft beer i remember opening my eyes was Gumballhead...before trying that i had no idea beer could be so good.

    It seems like most people are on to what the brewery it is. If you still have no clue, it should be obvious by the guesses since my last hint. So one more final hint I think should do it.

    Hint#14: The brewery no longer makes this beer, and I drank it in 2007.

    Thanks to all for sharing their stories. There were some really great and funny stories. So here goes mine:
    I used to drink very little in college. I could not stand the taste of macro beers, but would do it every now and then. I thought beer was awful. I preferred whiskey or vodka drinks if I was at a party. My last year in college my friend gave me a bottle of alpha kong one day. The only large bottles I had ever seen were the large 40oz malt liquor beers from macrobreweries that you would see people play edward 40 hands with. So I just drank it straight out of the large bomber bottle that alpha kong came in not thinking at all to pour it in to a glass(the only clean cups were probably just a few coffee cups we never used in the apartment anyways). It tasted like liquid pears and so many other great flavors, and I fell in love. It was something like 15%. We put on super troopers, and then I passed the f out and took one of my top 5 naps of all time. I woke up so refreshed and wanting to try all of 3floyds' beers, and all kinds of different craft beers.

    Wow that's impressive! When I saw the hint I thought that was the beer that fit perfectly, but when I saw the abv I was like damn that would be a pretty heavy craft beer to start off with- not surprised you passed out. If that was me I would have probably woken up with a horrible hang over.

    Here's my journey into craft beer:
    My first ever beer was a PBR and was when I was a freshman in college. I don't remember exactly what my first beer was, but before I turned 21 I remember having mostly macros and the occasional Magic Hat or Sam Adams (usually Summer or Boston Lager) which we definitely considered delicacies. When I turned 21 (2.5 years ago) my roommates at the time turned 21 almost the same time and we made it our goal to go to a different bar every Thursday and I would try different beer each time. It started off mostly with big name local companies like Harpoon, Sam, Adams, Magic Hat, etc..

    I remember the first beer that really turned me on to craft beer though was 90 minute from Dogfish Head (a company at the time I had never heard anything about). I thought it was unlike anything I had ever had before and it prompted me into trying new breweries, bigger beers, and learning more about beer. After that my roommate and I decided we would buy a different mixed 12-pack each weekend and try to figure out which styles we liked the best.

    For awhile it only remained as a casual weekend hobby and didn't become almost an obsession until earlier this year when I went to extreme beer fest, which was my first festival. There were so many good beers there that I had never tried. Literally every 5 samples I'd say that that sample was the best beer I've ever had. After that I decided I'd try to get into reviewing beers to appreciate them more and as a way to keep track of them. Since then I've reviewed 260 beers, been to at least 5 other festivals, met some great drinking buddies on this site, and tried tons of great beers from all over the country through trades I've done.

    For those of you who didn't win, I'm going to try to start my own LIF later tonight called the Bottle Collection LIF.
