Fitger's/Duluth Brewhouse

Superior Trail IPA wasn't brewed at Fitger's in 2010.

 

I had pours from a growler of it purchased on 11-26-10, according to my rating at the other site. It was added to the database of the other site on 9-5-07.

 

I should have said that, the current Superior Trail IPA recipe wasn't brewed until 2013-ish...

 

That’s correct. The owners of the Fitgers complex had it brewed and packaged at Lake Superior for a couple of years in a row, and it was even featured on fitgers.com for a while. But it has little in the way of market presence apart from a handful of specialty bottle shops.

There was also likely to have been some misgivings from several quarters vis a vis a couple of bottled offerings with the Fitger’s name on them turning up in the market, but without any connection to the Brewhouse (which by now has supplanted the original Fitger’s Brewing Company in the contemporary memory).

This brand excursion was an interesting footnote in the modern Craft Beer scene, I suppose, but ultimately doomed: It’s commonly thought that the Brewhouse and Lake Superior Brewing Co. have not ever really seen eye-to-eye in such branding issues.
