Using the regions as defined by BA (Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, etc.), and based on whatever criteria you choose to define "best," name the five best breweries in your region. For non-U.S. BAs, name the five best breweries in your country. Go!

Here's my list for the Northwest (in no order, and based partially on the fact that I haven't had much of or anything (often draft only) from a number of other highly regarded Oregon and Alaska breweries):

    Anchorage
    Fremont
    de Garde
    Logsdon
    Boneyard

Honorable mention to Brewer's Art. There are a few I need to get ahold of - Other Half & Neshaminy. Getting some OH in a trade very soon, and going to Neshaminy later this summer.

As with a bunch of other "top beers in your area" threads, I'm not including Stillwater, as those beers are brewed all over the place. Love them all though!

That's keeping the radius shorter than the "region" you defined--if I have to sort out all of Wisconsin and Michigan, getting down to five will give me a migraine.

I need to visit Kane soon, from what I've heard they may go right on this list.

I will be generous with my region - it's more like my province. It is large, geographically, but we like our wide open spaces in Alberta.

    1. Alley Kat - Edmonton
    2. Wild Rose - Calgary
    3. Ribstone Creek - Edgerton
    4. Olds College Teaching Brewery - Olds
    5. Village - Calgary

Honourable mention - Troubled Monk - Red Deer (they just opened today and it is going to be awesome!!!)

Oops. I didn't allow for Canada in the OP. But you're right, most provinces are about as big as a BA region.
I'll give you a do-over. Selkirk Abbey is in the Mountain region—even though it's more than five times closer to Bellingham than some breweries in Alaska.

Just think, if you lived in Sonoma COUNTY, your "region" would include Russian River, Lagunitas, Bear Republic, and Moonlight all within a few miles of each other. I don't know what your fifth brewery would be, there's a few nanos around Santa Rosa or Sebastopol I think...
