Any comments on Fizz Drops for carbonating in bottles? Good or bad. At first try I got minimal carbonation after three weeks.
My comment would be to use table sugar, weighed out to produce exactly the level of carbonation you want. I can't say that your minimal carbonation was caused by not doing this, but it's a possibility.
Products like that are great for when you get completely done bottling and realize you forgot to add the sugar, which is still sitting in the pan on the stove. Don't ask me how I know this. Otherwise I'd just use sugar, weighed out properly with a gram scale, boiled in some water and cooled.
I've been using the Cooper's drops they seem to work fine...so far. I have had a few not carbonate as well as others I the same batch. I go about 4 weeks on carbonation.
I've used them. My conclusion is that they do work, but take 3-4 weeks for the beers to carbonate. I thought that it was due to using malt extract (what the fizz drops are made of) instead of sugar, but never really investigated or tried to find out why.
Thx all, probably should have given it another week before I moved to cold. Can I pull them out of the refrigerator and give them some more time?
