Flagship beers by style

    While some people are going with the hoppier version of an American Amber/Red, I'll go with a maltier version:
    Alaskan Amber.
    Fat Tire would also be considered, although it's so different that I consider Alaskan's to be more representative.

    it's not so much what's better, it's the beer that represents the style best or the beer that pioneered the style.

    Quad = St Bernardus Quad, Rochefort 10

    Brown Ale - Smutty Nose Brown, Newcastle Brown

    Since I saw some nit-picking earlier in the thread...

    Only problem with calling Alaskan Amber the flagship Amber Ale is that while it's called "amber" it's actually an Altbier.

    I think your list is almost dead on. The only thing I think I would change is the IPA. I would substitute Lagunitas IPA or Racer 5 for Blind Pig. Mostly just because of the availability factor.

    Oh, and for an amber I would probably pick Boont Amber from AVBC. #NorCalHomer
