I opened a bottle of the latest batch last night to find it completely flat. Major bummer. Has anyone else experienced this or did I just get lucky?

I've never had a flat one, not that I've had very many of them to drink. You could drop Russian River an email to let them know about it.

Are you sure it wasn't a Lost Abbey?

Seriously - no - I've had at least 20 of them, never flat.

I've had enough of every batch to kill an army. In the past two weeks I've had two cases or so. All perfect.

That is one hell of a beer budget you've got there...

In all honesty, it tasted like magic mixed with angels.

Glad to hear that, should be cracking one soon, and I loved the original, so I am hoping this is not a total let down to my high hopes.

Edit for relevancy: Never had a flat Consecration either.

No joke, it was worth the 2 hour drive after I won the lottery. In fact, I would have drove 7 hours for it. One of the top three porters I've ever had. That was the first beer of the night btw.

I also had a flat 375mL, but it was about 1.5-2 years ago. I made a thread about it, but I don't believe it is accessible at the moment...

Good description. When I tried it the same thing popped into my head.

Had three flat Sanctifications a couple of years back. Just curious, were the Consecration corks really hard to get out? That was the case with the Sanc's I had. Wrote vinny who immediately sent four Sanc's to me. RR has great customer service.

Never had any problems with the couple cases worth of RR that I've drank.

    How did it taste otherwise?

Tasted fine, the same as every other bottle I've had, just minus the bubbles.

They were likely harder to get out because there was no CO2 to assist in their removal.
