as said, Live, Wylde, Bitter American. I think Daytime and All day are watery tasting.

Recently Black Raven in Redmond, WA has made a keg only session called Nothin but Flowers that is phenomenal.

While not a true session beer, I love Allagash White. Tons of flavor and once 5.1% abv.

I was hoping it was the pre-1860 Barclay Perkins Table Beer.

Notch is my go to for session beers. You pretty much can't go wrong with their beer, and everything is beautifully flavorful. On another note, Tafelbier is superbly bizarre and tasty. Also at an event with the brewer recently he said their doing a berliner weisse soon, which will surely be superb.
Unfortunately these beers aren't available out in CA (as far as I know) but if you are ever in the MA area you should check them out. In CA, I would say Levitation from Stone and Tartare (if you wanna go sour) from Near Republic are the only two I can mention from personal experience. They're both good stuff, though Tartare is quite different from most other types of beer...

I've been drinking Fullers ESB's and London Pride lately, under 5% I believe.

The best ones I've found are Edward Pale Ale (5.2%) from Hill Farmstead in Vermont and Pau Hana Pale Ale (4.5%) from Big Island Brewhaus in Hawaii. Both have big, awesome flavor yet are quite session-able at relatively low ABVs. Unfortunately, neither of these ales are bottled so they are brewery only...and in fairly remote locations.

Trade for some Tired Hands. It will change your perceptions of what a session beer can smell/taste like.

Great beer for a hot summer day party-especially with guests who don't drink craft beer. Last July 4th, I served a number of bottles of Jabby Brau and Leisure time- gone!

After today, definitely NEBCO Supernaut IPA. Just a perfect session beer.

Uinta has some great session beers; by necessity I suppose under UT's liquor laws.

I'm thinking something you can drink plenty of over a fairly substantial period of time and not get too wobbly. That's my definition, anyway, for whatever that's worth.

Thanks for that. Brings back memories. When the question of "definition of a session beer" came up, The old Schaefer jingle popped into my head, but your posting beat me to the punch. It's got to be in the top-10 greatest commercial jingles ever.

I have a hard time convincing myself to buy a "sessionable" IPA. I'm just happy to have something to turn to after all the delicious Double IPAs!

    Schlafly A/TIPA
    Sculpin
    Union Jack
