Agreed...too much Citra can do that (among other hop mixes) which would make the beer an "IPeeA" and it's not so enjoyable.

Other way around. I love licorice, especially the salted stuff, but don't think it has much of a place in beer. Shipyards Mint Chocolate Stout....when you drain pour a four ounce taster, that's not good. Total licorice bomb and in my mind a beer that should never have been brewed. To each their own, but the missus and I both dumped the stuff. I mean, I didn't even drain pour Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic and that is about the most heinous beer I've had.

Coffee for me, too. Never been a fan of coffee, but Breakfast Stout is one of my favorite beers. Like BCBCC and a lot of other coffee beers as well.

As it sounds like many agree, I can't stand coffee. Coffee is horribly gross to me by itself but it's so good in beer. I'm not sure how that works but it definitely does.

Coffee! I've never liked coffee, but in a nice, dark beer, it works for me. I still prefer cocoa, but it's a nice addition.

I haven't experimented with it enough, but I've also never liked licorice/anise, but I still enjoyed Lev's Black Lion Black Lager, which had a decent amount of licorice flavor. I eventually want to try Uinta's Labyrinth, which should tell me for sure whether I like licorice in beer or not.

Also, not much experience, but I've never had a problem with the taste of graphite, but in beer it's TERRIBLE!

Oh, and I suppose leather has never been palatable to me (not bad, but not good either), but I enjoy finding it in sour/brett beers.

Licorice, too strong when eaten by itself but in beer it adds an extra subtlety. I liked it in Take the Black stout and Bell's Dagger stout.

This post is a good one! I've never liked wheat or rye breads, but either is good in beer. Also, I love my mom's potato salad (which includes diced pickles, pickle juice/brine, and black olives), but when I smelled those smells in Green Monster, it turned me off. I prefer bourbon flavor in beer to bourbon flavor in bourbon, too.

Prunes and raisins and such...I never eat them normally, but when those flavors are present in a big barleywine, belgian dark or quad...mmmmmmm

Um... Scotch ales don't usually have anything to do with Scotch Whiskey. Except being originally from Scotland.

Damn. What I learned from this thread, is that I guess I'm not a very picky eater. I was expecting to see one or two that I agreed with, but with the exception of the (hopefully) obvious ones like cat piss, horse blanket, and band aid, I've got nothing. Coffee, grapefruit, and toast makes for an awesome breakfast, and I'll eat licorice all day.

I love cloves, and I like bananas, but I can't stand those flavors in beer.

I don't care for Rye, but I love the flavor it adds to beer. Especially Rye IPAs.

I'm not a big fan of honey, but in the right beer it's delicious.

Bourbon. Not a fan of it on its own, but I love a good bourbon barrel stout
