Flesk Brewery is opening a taproom in the Barrington Ice House Mall on June 17th. For those that haven't heard of them, they distributed out of a tiny place in Lombard from 2012 - 2016. They also made the house helles and heffe at The Radler in Logan Square. They have made some very solid beers in past, so if you're looking for a brewery in the Northwest burbs, this maybe a place to check out. Full disclosure, I am friends with them, and am rooting for them to succeed (Not invested though). However, I think we all know the quality of beer will determine that.
Interesting, I always thought Metropolitan brewed those two for the Radler (just thought I heard that initially when they opened and assumed it as true). I was clearly mistaken. I enjoy both of them in the summer, so looking forward to trying more of their stuff (not that I'm trecking to Barrington for that though). Do they specialize in German styles? Looks like they list quite a few styles on their website.
Flesk did the house beers from when the Radler opened until early last year. Metropolitan has been doing it ever since. They don't specialize in anything specific. My personal favorite flesk beers were Coat of Arms, a mosaic imperial pale ale, and moped traveler, a sessionable pale ale. However, they told me they were going to rename everything, and work on better consistency.
Went to the friends and family night last night. I really enjoyed the hefewizen, and the IPA was solid. My girlfriend really liked Kai, a grapefruit ginger wheat ale. Didn't try everything, as i had a 30 mile drive back, but they had six different beers on tap. It's a cool spot in downtown barrington.
Any idea which beer is in this pic from IG? I heard of them through the mikerphone instagram post... wondering if flesk will be doing hazy IPAs like mikerphone (not necessarily exclusively hazy IPAs, but 1-2 options)?
It looks like the hefe, but it could be the pale ale that I didn't try. I haven't asked James if they're doing hazy, but I wouldn't put it past him. Mike was there last night, as were some werk force guys. Those were the brewers I recognized at least. I know they've done a collab with werk force before.
