Oh sorry. I meant to say they won't fill blank 64oz screw top glass growlers. Im not sure their policy on stainless steel growlers.

It was one of their SS screwtops, so I'm sure that helps. It did leak like crazy, though. So I recommend swingtops.

Exactly - that only needs several wraps and it's sealed and solid and ready to travel :sunglasses:

There are a couple of places in Brooklyn that can't (rather than won't) fill flip tops, due to their counter-pressure growler system only being compatible with regular screw tops.

HF's own growlers are shorter then the usual ones- they of course fill those. What they don't want to fill is the tall flip tops and they will fill anyone's brown screw top growler (just bring your own cap cowboy). But why should I bother explaining this to someone who obviously knows so much, when HF can explain in themselves:

We never have that problem in Cbus, where are you in Ohio?

Most places encourage you to bring your own growler glass or swap with them to save on costs.

Never ran into this at Victory. They put a sticker on the side with the name

Never had that problem here in Oregon or Washington, best to check around first, I have mainly flip tops.

Have had quite a few Victory Growler flip top fills. Never had tape on it.

The shrink wrap we use at my store easliy accomodates the flip-tops on 32-oz growlers (or cubs as I like to call them), but isn't big enough for the 2 liter growlers (grizzlies!!), so we use tape

I thought HF only sold flip tops?

The last time I was at Victory that didn't happen. In fact I've never had any place here in PA do that.

I'm still confused. It seems that their only limitations are certain volumes, non-brown, and aluminum. And I always considered their own flip top growler to actually be pretty tall itself... It's the tallest growler I have in my stash of growlers, including those of greater volumes. Not sure what absurdly tall, skinny growler type you are referring to...

The only time I came in contact with the necessity to seal is at Beverage Word in Georgia. Great place by the way.
They use some plastic wrap and a hair dryer and swing/flip tops are not a problem.

My local growler fill place that uses a pressure fill system for both 32 & 64 oz. sizes started with 32 oz. swing tops and 64 oz. screw tops [I think] and switched over to 32 oz. screw tops as well. They will still fill the swing tops but prefer the screw tops since they're shorter and fit in the pressure fill machine easier.

I just recently received 2 growlers from Ohio, both flip tops. One was filled at Savor and one at Ohio Taproom.

So it sounds like this isn't even consistent in Ohio.

The HF growlers are shorter then the German flip tops- they even show a photo of what they don't fill. They don't fill metal or clear growlers. The will fill everything else.

The growler I bought at Victory was a swing-top growler

Not a problem in MA since its illegal to fill a growler not sourced from your brewery with your name on it. Weak.
