Viking Blod is made with hibiscus and is delicious. (I know it's mead, just wanted to mention it)

Philadelphia Brewing Co. – Fleur de Lehigh

My wife ordered a pint of Fleur de Lehigh last weekend and I took a sip; I thought I was drinking a bouquet of flowers.

    From the webste:

We create Fleur de Lehigh in the spirit of a new season. Spring is a time of warmth, blossoms, and memories of Shibe Park, where Philadelphians once celebrated the annual rebirth of baseball season. This unfiltered, golden ale brewed with ginger, lemongrass and other natural herbs, blooms upon the palate with a vibrant, floral character.

    Available Spring/Summer

    ABV: 4.75%

Rogue has a hefeweizen brewed with rose water, and maybe even rose petal, but I didn't like it. :slight_frown:

My all time favorite floral beer is Southampton Cuvee Des Fleurs

"Southampton’s Cuvée des Fleurs is brewed as a Saison, flavored with a variety of edible flowers, including L. angustifolia (lavender), A. nobilis (chamomile), C. officinalis (Calendula, or pot marigold), Rose hips and a generous amount of H. lupulus (hops, which are flowers too of course!)."

Being a rosarian myself I sorta like the theory but doubt I would like it in practice. Perhaps a blonde on a bed of roses holding a beer . . .

Try Fleur de Houblon by Ommegang. If you like floral beers, then you will love this one.

I saw someone post this recently in WBAYDN and thought it was a @LehighAce06 homebrew.

I liked that one, but unfortunately saison is not high on my list of favored beer styles. But it was a very interesting beer.

We have thousands of violets in out backyard, and violets are edible flowers... perhaps next year I will brew a violet pale ale. Have to start using the beer making kit my wife got me last year for Christmas. And we do have several different roses growing here... hmmmmmmmmm my mind is working overtime.

Just figured out what WBAYDN means, or I was going to ask you. I should have gotten it sooner, been posting a lot more there.

Thank you for that, we've got that around here and I've thought about trying it but haven't been willing to do so without knowing how it tasted. Would you recommend it, is it worth the expense? I don't drink mead very often, so I don't know a lot about it.

Lavender must be tricky to use well given the soapiness associated with it. Element's LESO wasn't a success for me. Not due to any soapy qualities but an odd herbal quality. The Elsyian beer mentioned in the previous post had a soapy quality, but I remember liking it.

I'll take a brunette on a bed of roses holding a beer. Not a disagreement just preference

I think it's worth it, at least once. Maybe you can find a bar that has it on tap to try before committing to the bomber.

hahaha! Philadelphia Brewing, they're referring to Lehigh Avenue I believe (the street on which Shibe Park was located, the stadium pictured on the bottle). My Lehigh comes from Lehigh University, where I spent my undergrad years.
