Going to Florence in a couple days. We are going to be there for a week, staying within walking distance of the cathedral. No car, so driving is out. There is not a lot listed on BA, anything else I should look for?

My advice, go to that other beer website, the one with the much larger European presence, Click Places > Italy > Firenze

About 5 minutes walk from the main station there is a pub called Mostodolce that brews their own stuff, off premise. I enjoyed their beers quite a bit, great atmosphere for watching a soccer match too.

I went to Max Pub about a year ago. A few blocks from the main train station. Small, but they had Cantillon.

I appreciate the responses. I never made it to a "true" beer place, but I found a little hole in the wall that had Pilsner Urquel on tap, so that helped a lot.

For anyone looking in the future, it is on the same street as Casa di Dante on the way towards Orsanmichele.

In the central market in Firenze, there is a food court in the upper floor, where you can find a Birreria. They pour the draught beer very well there. The best beer was ICHNUSA from Sardegna.:

Mostodolce is awesome - went there three times. Not sure what else is happening in Florence for beer - went there a few years back.

Just wanted to give a thank you to all above for the suggestions. The wife and I are going in less than a month and these pubs near the train station (and our hotel) sound awesome!

I've been in Florence for a few months, studying abroad. Mostodolce pisses me off (watch how they pour their beers) but with that said I don't have much of an alternative. Brewdogs is fun. There's one other craft beer bar I've been to but don't know the name, I'll try to find out for this thread. Only locals go. If anyone is visiting and wants to grab a beer, message me, I'm here until mid December. I'm also a volunteer tour guide at the duomo if anyone wants a free tour haha!

Molstodolce was my favorite. Its not the best beer bar ever, but its the best with what you have there. Volpe was my favorite brew. It was a little weird though, one day I went they had a sign over the tap saying it was out, but I saw them pouring for some people.

Update: I've found a few more alternatives in the recent weeks and wanted to throw them down here for anyone travelling to Florence in the future. Beer House Club, mentioned above, is okay, with a more central location than some others. They have about 15-20 beers on tap, and some available in bottles. Next, Diorama is a must. I just discovered it this week (my second to last week here:slight_frown:) but it's great. 4-5 different Cantillon bottles, with multiples of each. He said they get it on tap sometimes as well. Variety of Tilquin also. Overall, there had to have been 70 bottles and cans available for on site consumption and to go. 10-15 on tap as well, including a Diorama IPA. Holy shit, that was my favorite IPA in the last four months. Then close by is a new brewery that does some crazy stuff! A stout with 11 herbs, and a beer called Alien that is literally green from the herbs. Weird, but a cool experience. I don't remember the name, but it was a two minute walk towards the city gate. Hope everyone enjoys Firenze, message me with any questions about beer or Firenze in general!

Heading to Milan, Florence, Tuscany region in 2 weeks for honeymoon. Any good bottle shops that may have some lambics (loons, 3F, etc. )? Any help is appreciated.

Update on Florence, taken into account Matthew Walters' post:

    1. Visited Beer House Club, they have only 9 beers on tap, only 3 of them Italian craft beers. Tasted 2 of Eremo (IPA and Golden Ale), both not very interesting. Also some bottles, but not a crazy selection. Quid: according to the guy of Diorama (later that evening), they changed owners recently, and they are no longer interested in pure craft beer, just sales because of their location in center
    2. Archea Brewery: seemed decent, location a bit out of center
    3. The brewery without a name = Il Bov Aro. Yes, its only 5 minutes away from Diorama (same street). It already exists for a few years, so, its not that "NEW". Looks more like a gimmick. We saw the green beer, had some others. Sorry, but poor quality.
    4. Diorama. Best spot of Firenze. Guy at the bar is very nice, though English not always that easy. 10-15 is highly exaggerated for beers on tap. It's only 7 taps. We had the Diorama Maison Saison, for which they used pepper. Aftertaste too much peppery, but not a bad try. Bottle selection is nice, with some quality Italian crafts. Maybe we were there at wrong time, but for Lambics: only Oud Beersel, 3f Oude Kriek and Oude Geuze, Tilquin (just 1 bottle), and for Cantillon, only the 3 usuals and Cuvee st G. So, not extremely special
For those looking for "loons" or other stuff, my advice: buy a flight ticket to Belgium, and when visiting Firenze/Tuscany, enjoy the amazing wine region :grinning:
