I arrived in Florida last night and promptly bought a 6-pack of Jai Alai (canned on January 6th). My last visit to Florida was 1-1/2 years ago, and I had Jai Alai for the first time and was WOWed. Not so this time. (I will finish the 6-pack.) What should be my next purchase for any Florida beer that is easily found in bottles or cans, and preferably an IPA? I'm staying in the Pinellas Park area, so some good stores are nearby. Thanks.

Try and find some of the Citra Hopped on the High Seas.

Ditto what Ray sez. For the third time today. I'm drinking one right now!

Where have you found this? I can't find it anywhere and all I keep running across is the Ahtanum

Last i saw it was last Friday at TW in Tampa when i picked up several sixers. I haven't looked for it since, so i am not sure if they or anyone else still has it.

I saw some on Wednesday at the ABC in wesley chapel. It almost looked like it was mixed in with the Ahtanum, so look closely when grabbing your stash

Seeing how you are staying in Pinellas Park, I would definitely try to stop by Rapp Brewing, Willards always has a great draft list, and Barley Mow is not to far away either. As far as stores, Leukens in Dunedin has the best selection, and if you're up there swing by Seventh Sun Brewing.

Also up in Dunedin is the Dunedin Brewery. They have great food and always have solid beers on draft. All within walking distance of 7th Sun and also the Dunedin House of Beer (40 taps).

I was guessing that since the OP specifically asked for easy to obtain bottles/cans (IPA) that going to a brewery was out of the question. But yeah, Rapp, Cycle, Dunedin, 7venth Sun would all be good choices if possible.

Growlers are bottles and are readily available at the breweries

    LOL
I'd say the vast majority here know what a growler is and if looking for one specifically ask for it and brewery advice, not stores.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, everyone. I picked up some of the Citra Hopped on the High Seas at Leukens Big Town, and then stopped in at 7venth Sun and Dunedin Breweries. Great beer at both places. I have not tried the Citra Hopped on the High Seas yet, but I love citra hops, so I expect the beer to WOW me. (Someone in the GL forum says that it is better than Zombie Dust, and that is a ringing endorsement.) The other places that were suggested (plus a couple of others) are on my to-do list before I go back to Michigan. I'm looking forward to all of them.

IMHO I agree. Better than Zombie Dust. If I didn't have a fridge full of HotHS Citra, I'd trade for it. I rarely trade FOR ZD. ZD nice as an extra or add on, but I wouldn't trade specifically for it.

Any suggestions on where to hit in terms of bottle shops in the Daytona Beach area? I will be out there next weekend and would love to grab as much Cigar City as I can!

If you are still in Pinellas Park, I recommend a stop to the Cajun Cafe. They have great food in a great setting, and they also have a great tap list of 15 or so fantastic Florida beers. I know you are looking for bottles/cans, but if you get hungry and thirsty and don't want travel far, you can't go wrong with Cajun.

Okay, I screwed up. I did not realize that Hopped on the High Seas was with anything but Citra, so I grabbed a six pack without looking closely to see that it was with Ahtanum hops. It's still a tasty beer but was a mental letdown since I was anticipating the Citra hops. So I'll have to stop at the brewery or the pub to try the Citra version.

My further Florida adventures took me to Rapp this afternoon. My wife and I split a sampler of 9, and we loved very one of their beers. I think this was my first experience with a Gose, and that beer is exceptional and deserving of all of the awards that it has won. This brewery should go places.

I'm going to try to visit the brewpub tonight and get some there (I assume they sell cans of their stuff to go), but if they don't have it there that I may swing back over to Dunedin later. Thanks for the tip.

Plenty of Citra in the Tasting Room cooler.

A big thanks for that tip. I hit the brewpub and was able to drink the Citra on tap (plus several others, and WOW!) but they didn't have cans. So a quick stop at the tasting room got me what I needed. I think there were only 4 sixers left after I grabbed mine.
