I don't understand the insistence that this is somehow a new style or unique to Florida. Just because more fruited berliners are being made in Florida now than most other states doesn't mean that nobody has done fruited berliners before or that brewing a certain style with fruit makes it "revolutionary." Besides, there's this tidbit from the article: "Apart from these characteristics, the taste of a Florida Weisse is less sour and considered more complex than a lambic."
the style itself isn't that revolutionary, but clearly it has had a larger impact here than anywhere else as it seems all the big breweries have made an attempt at this, which is pretty important when talking about defining a style
Yeah, I wish I could have J. Wakefield berliners in Illinois all the time. Doesn't change the fact that the article is stupid and spreading misinformation.
