Hmph. There is not an individual thread for Flossmoor Station Brwy. this year (or for many years it seems)? Fine [Larry]. I'll start it. As I soldier on to areas and venues where I have not been in years, and studying what might be open on Monday, 5 July, the roulette wheel stopped on Flossmoor Station Brwy. in Flossmoor, IL. {doh} You probably have forgotten that Flossmoor Sta. Brwy. was the "Small Brewpub of the Year", as recognized by the Brewers' Association, in 2006. Of course, the only sensible route to Flossmoor Sta. Brwy. is the Metra Electric District (formerly Illinois Central) train. The 5th July train schedule was the Weekend Alternate one dated 10 May 2021. Essentially, there is a train every two hours departing Millennium Sta. @ #:10. I managed to catch the train departing at 12:10 pm and arriving at 1:04 pm. It was an uneventful ride. There was the slight sadness near the Kensington Sta. and glimpsing the defunct Argus Brwy. The blue cow is still on the roof. Arriving at Flossmoor Sta. Brwy.; it may have been a day when a Holiday was being observed, but it was still "Big Beer Monday", which meant I got a 20-oz. pour for the price of 16-oz. But last weekend was Flossmoor Sta. Brwy.'s 25th Anniversary. There were a clutch of special deals, including 1990s prices for some of the time. All right, but you want to know, "How are the beers?" The flagships, including my preference, the Pullman Brown Ale, are solid examples of the styles. The food is also pretty good. That is the Spicy Jambalaya. If you still mourn that Todd Ashman is not brewing here anymore {"It isn't the same since Todd..."}; you have a peculiar grasp of history. Let me top it off with this astounding observation. Due to a pilot project between Metra and Cook County, the fare on Metra Electric from Millennium Sta. to Flossmoor is $3.25. I think $3.25 would get you a mere 1,200 feet (maybe) on Uber | Lyft.
