Going to be in NYC next month and I am curious the availability of Flowerpower? Would like to get a case if it all possible. Thanks
Pretty much readily avail., I know I can get growlers for 11.99 and six packs for 10.99 - 13.99 right now.
It's pretty much is always available. I find myself over looking it sometimes b/c of this fact. I can get drawn in by seasonals.
Yep, it is pretty much everywhere. The fresher the better. Peekskills Eastern Standard is the same beer. Same brewer, same recipie.
Amen. Is there a therapy group for this trend? I find that the more readily available it is, the less likely that I've tried it as I'm always chasing the newer, rarer, more seasonal stuff. I know I'm missing some great beers b/c of this, but I can't seem to help myself.
Eastern Standard, of course, will be so much more easily available. Also, where did you find that out?
Pretty sure it's not. Abv 1.5% higher in FP. Only had ES once...a while ago...pretty drunk...didn't remind me of FP at the time tho.
I know the brewer for Ithaca left to go to Peekskill a bit ago, no idea if he brought the recipe with him though...
as others have said, this shouldn't be hard to find at all. Should run about $11-$12/6er, not sure on the case price. but if I may, I did a quick check on SeekABrew to see what you couldn't get in GA...bring home a 6er of Sly Fox 113 IPA (cans), it's *always* overlooked and is a fantastic IPA. Cans make it easy for travel too. And since GA doesn't get Ballast Point, you may want to try to bring home some Sculpin, especially if you can find it fresh. They use a "drink by" date which is 120 days from bottle date. i.e. "Drink by 8/30/13" was bottled on about 4/30/13. Pricey, but friggin' awesome ($15-$16/6er).
chief went to peekskill, when he left they changed the flower power recipe a little bit. has citra in it now i think. eastern standard is very similar to the old flower power.
I just find this hard to believe. The Chief part is obviously true. That said, Flower Power has always been 7.5% ABV and Eastern Standard is 6.6%. That doesn't sound like identical recipes to me. To original point, Flower Power is all over Westchester County these days. Can't speak to NYC specifically.
That is what I was told by someone who used to frequent Ith brewery, and now is at PB a lot. He is about 100% reliabe in all things beer, and I dont doubt him. Ith changed FP when Chief left, so maybe that is the change in ABV.
