Like a lot of people have mentioned, I'm not the biggest fan of the art. Just not my thing. Regardless, I tend to enjoy their beer, and going through my recent drinking history, I noticed that I've had more beers from them that I've enjoyed than almost any other brewery. Like I said, they aren't always phenomenal, but I enjoy the majority of them, often quite a bit. And they're putting out new stuff to try regularly. They may not get a lot of attention because their new and limited releases tend to come out in 6-packs. I think that if they put them into a bomber or similar packaging and did anything to promote them, people would be more inclined to take notice and seek them out.

I think The Truth is pretty solid. Blood Orange IPA is available on draft around me often. Single hop IPA is good depending on hop, but is usually pricier.

I do admit I don't buy their beers(or really any made in MD) often. I went to one of their public(ticketed) holiday celebrations a few years ago and it was fun with some good one offs.

i'm a big fan of HBC-431 and The Truth; and of FD in general. admittedly i'm a bit of a homer since the brewery is about 40 mins north of me. means we get fresh beer!

$15/6-pack is for their single-hopped series and other seasonals, at least around here. their regular offerings are in the $10-12/6-pack range, which is pretty typical.

do you like IPAs? just checking, in case you don't like hoppy beers... would explain why you might not be a fan of those 3.

At this point, no. Never been a fan; however, I might revisit in the near future since it's been years.

They are far and away my favorite style. I just think the 3 I mentioned are very mediocre.

It's not too late to relocate. Minnesota is lovely this time of year

Just as with beer taste, to each their own with art taste. What they have done with using Steadman's art is create a unique and instantly recognizable brand. You might not like it but it sets them apart from other breweries and you are able to tell its a flying dog before you even read anything.

My favorite beer by Flying Dog, they no longer make. Appreciation took a bit of a dive when they retired Woody Creek White.

honestly, they make far more good beers than bad. some of them are outstanding. i agree with the OP that there is not as much love as there could be.

i would also say, locally, they are very appreciated. that said, i do not buy flying dog as much as i could. i actually pretty rarely buy their beers. i think i should soon actually!

also, wish they would date their bottles, but they are not the only ones i wish would.

Just tried their Hefeweizen again, after it was re-branded from In Heat Wheat, and was definitely impressed. Also, had Dead Rise last year at an O's game at Camden Yards on a hot day right after chowing down on a bunch of seafood at Cross Street Market and it really hit the spot.

I almost totally forgot about their Atlantic Lager! I guess they stopped making it. It's a shame, it was such a nice, well-priced go-to in cans.

Their Gonzo, The Truth and Single Hop IPA's are fantastic.

Most of what I had was pretty mediocre, nothing I would buy on a regular basis.

I'd say they do deserve a little more attention. They've really stepped it up with their IPAs recently and at a really reasonable pricepoint. I also think they've tweaked the recipe for Raging Bitch recently because I've been blown away by the last couple sixers I've picked up.

That said, I think they tend to play it pretty safe and some of their core beers are lame. I, for one, enjoy their labels and marketing. But they're not really pushing any boundaries with their beer.

Double dog was the first tooth enamel melting hoppy beer i ever had. Just had one the other night and it was definitely a tad boozy but thats not such a bad thing with an 11.5% beer.
Flying dog definitely is solid and often a go to for me since they have good distro in my area.

forgot about Dead Rise - one of my all-time fav beers to pair with food. on its own it's OK, but it really shines with strong foods.

I've been known to knock back a few of their oyster stouts in my time.

I don't really see their beers as much as I used to before they moved, but they're almost all good.
While no longer there, many of their classic beers were developed by Eric Warner. He's one of America's finest.
