I did a quick search, didn't find anything related sooo...

Will be flying around a bit for jobs, might pick up some brews while I travel. I've never packed any alcohol when flying. For those who have, how was the experience? How did you protect it? Did you have any problems with TSA/etc?

    Thanks for any tips

I put each bottle in a ziploc bag, then wrap it in bubble wrap, then wrap it in a piece of clothing. Make sure none of the bottles are touching one another, and are sorta in the middle of the bag, and you should be good to go. Never had any issues with TSA and never had a bottle broken (fingers crossed)

On your way home, you can box a bunch of stuff up and check the box as a bag as well (works great with Southwest, maybe not so much with airlines that charge $50 a bag)

Cannot put in carry-on. Cannot go through security. It can be placed into checked baggage with no problems at all. I usually have them slap a few "fragile" stickers on and make sure the bottles are not close enough to one another to break if any baggage tossers get over-zealous. Some people put them in zip-lock bags, just in case they break. I've also bubble-wrapped them with no problems at all.

No worries, I did that the first time I searched for your exact same question.

ditto about checked luggage only. i'd add that i like the ziploc/some type of bag idea as an added measure. i once had a bottle leak in my suitcase. fortunately it was on the return trip, but still. if TSA rifles through your bag odds are slim that they'll repack your bottles as carefully as you did. will definitely be doing this in the future, especially if it's on the way there.

True gentleman fly with dedicated beer luggage (it helps if you fly Southwest). Best decision I've ever made and I've never had an issue. I've flown from NY to LA and all parts between and I don't even think TSA ever opened it. In my opinion, the cost was justified when you compare the risk of ruining hundreds of dollars of clothing and potential ramifications of leaking luggage.

I bought a Pelican 1440 case and plucked enough foam to make custom space for 8 bombers. You don't have to worry about it leaking because the case has a waterproof seal...the clamps on this thing are amazing (in my opinion, this thing would have to drop from 30,000 feet in order for the contents to be damaged). I figure that it's already paid for itself after about 10 flights (based on my fuzzy math of mailing 10 random packages back home at $15/each). I don't know if posting links to outside vendors is taboo so I'll refrain from doing so. There is a similar product called a Winecruzer (which uses the exact same case but has fancier customer foam inserts) that costs almost exactly twice as much. You save $160 by plucking your own foam. Hope that helps.

    Cheers!

This is right on. You have to put them in your checked luggage rather than your carry-on. Most airlines only let you bring a couple ounces of anything liquid in your carry-on.

Delta is fine with beer. Their stated policy refers only to alcohol over 48 proof and "
Alcohol under 48 proof is not considered hazardous and is permitted" as checked luggage per their website.
