Yeah I got there at 12 last year for the 1pm session.

It was fairly basic. They spoke about the size of the event, the flow, the general jobs, and basically hammered home the point about not drinking too much. Other than that, you must sign in and sign out for your job/area. The rest was generalities about the event. Don't use social media until the public enters the event and it becomes public knowledge. Remember it is a competition and not just a festival. I think that covered it. They're supposed to be sending the volunteer packet via PDF as they didn't hand out copies. Shirts and such are picked up at your session and must be worn at all times. I'm not sure about when/where you get your assignments.

 

No! Unless you want to sit outside in the cold for no reason.

 

They gave out assignments the day you volunteered last year.

Did they clarify signing in/out? Did they mean once?

One of the benefits has been being able to take 20 min after the craziness and some kegs have kicked to go grab a few pours.

 

Cool, thanks. I'm signed up for the 9am-4pm volunteer session on Friday. Hoping it's stewarding the judging but guessing it's more basic bitch stuff.

You sign in with your team. After the event ends you clean up and then sign out with your team. It was easy enough to grab a few pours before the people go in and during the event. Hell after the intial rush Ice people just walk around and booze lol. Basically as long as you dont get Shit faced and help out where it is needed you really cannot screw up.

Heading to the volunteer meeting tonight...any idea how long it lasts? I'm hoping to be in and out to watch the cubs game.

 

Unfortunately, it's likely not stewarding. They used to have the steward volunteers with everyone else at signup, but this year there seemed to be some separation.

 

Yeah, would have to agree with you since when I asked the guy in charge of volunteering tonight at Rev, he told me the judging takes place on Saturday which I know is untrue.

 

Oh ok. So, pretty much like last year.

 

Wow. Was at the volunteer meeting last night. They were much more open about it being ok to drink while working that they were last year.

 

Wow indeed. I hope they put the smallest volunteers at the BA Abraxas pouring station.

 

The Saturday afternoon Session seems more popular than the evening session, but why is that? Thought they pour the same beers throughout every session?
