Based only on last year you will have no problem at all trying each variant multiple times if you want. Also in my experience (I'm sure someone will cite a counterexample) GI does not run out of beer and so is the place to be at the end of session for massive pours. The line generally moves fairly quickly.

Last year, GI had two booths opposite each other in the main hall. Lines moved pretty quick all night, even with Rare being poured. Each booth had like 4 people stationed, which sped things up.

Rare was also entered in the judging, so I think it was at a table too.

Which brings up a point... the stuff at the GI booths isn't technically part of the judging, IIRC. So, they bring more than the three kegs (or whatever) required for entry.

Thanks for the reply. This is actually my 4th FoBAB, but sometimes it feels as if I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off especially when one is trying to get to a keg before it blows (Side Project and Perennial a couple of years ago). So there seems to be less time to look at the booklet. Last year I was at the Saturday evening session and was able to obtain the winners of the competition so I tasted those. I would not have known to check out Spiteful (Malevolence Chocolate Caliente) otherwise. This year I will be at the Saturday afternoon session.

I usually vacillate between the stouts and the wild ale room to refresh my palate.
It would be nice to have a list of participating breweries beforehand to check them out, though obviously it is a competition. Thanks to those that have posted brewers on this thread.

I will need to pay close attention to this thread Friday night and Saturday AM, and speak with people at the fest.

Seems the Kaiser Tiger event page on FB for the Malort Dark Lord is down. Anyone know the specifics? That's a beer I'd love to try.

Last year in this thread someone shared a link to twitter with the booklet from Friday. So if you are going Saturday you can put together a game plan.

Yes and Yes. Last year Goose Island had three stations. A table for Clybourn Pouring Cherry Run and Big Train if memory serves, A table for GI Pouring Rare, and two super stations each station had a variety of BCS's and Sours. The lines move super quick. I dont remember them running out of anything last year and if they did it wasnt untill almost the end.

Anything at the tables is part of the judging and sorted according to style, not brewery.

The two big GI stations from Fulton split up the BCS varieties to avoid everyone jamming one line. They really did move quite fast.

GI definitely ran out of some stuff toward the end last year. But as already stated, GI's lines run super fast and if you suffer from FOMO, you're gonna be disappointed at some point in the session.

Do the names on the tickets have to match ID's? I bought 2 tickets for my gf and I but my name is on both of them.

No, you're all good. The names only have to match for the early entry tix.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere earlier in the thread. I have been to a few FOBABs but never as an IMBIBE member. I purchased the early release ticket designated for me that stated I would have early admittance. All the tickets and reminders I have gotten say 1 PM. Is this normal? Was hoping maybe they just validate at door or something. Appreciate any advice! Cheers and look forward to seeing everyone there.

Nevermind. See the fine print that I get in early.
