Honestly I've been to a ton of beer events….. FOBAB is the best event ever if you are into sours, stouts, and now bourbon. You get to try mostly everything that will be released to figure out what is worth chasing. Plus GI brings everything. If you are an IMBIBE member you get to go in 1 hour before everyone else. In that 1 hour you can try everything no lines multiple times. By the time the gen public gets in you could easily be done. Tickets for the public were on sale for days last year, so i see no need to pound F5. So in short FOBAB the best event ever, is way better if you get the imbibe but even without it you will have a fun time.

I cannot go back due to the excessive fart smells at this event. I'm NOT kidding.

I'm reminded of the ancient adage "He who smelt it, dealt it".

Imagine 1,000 people in a small enclosed room all "smelting" it....that's FoBAB

I haven't ever applied to volunteer, so I can't say for sure. In principle, I would think ticket sales would come AFTER volunteers are announced since the upside to volunteering is free admission.

Can any of last year's volunteers comment?

They were still looking for volunteers damn near up until the event itself last year if I recall

You could sign up to volunteer the day of the event last year. Its 100% worth volunteering

If you were holding off until it was officially official... it's officially official.

    Event Dates: Nov 11/12
    Tickets Sales: Sept 16th.

I signed up to volunteer, but they didn't respond with ANY information until after tickets went on sale. So I bought tickets because I had nothing to go on. By the time they got back to me with volunteer information, I already made plans based on having bought tickets.

I don't share this experience but sounds just like the IMBIBE administration with which I'm familiar. Not at all surprising.

I had the exact same experience last year. I reached out multiple times, but had to buy tickets before they sold out. Literally a month later they sent an email. I wouldn't mind volunteering again, but hopefully they have it all together this time!

I, sir, am a classy beer drinker who holds my farts until I reach the bathroom.

I start off trying to conduct myself this way but at certain fests, FOBAB definitely included, after a tipping point is reached it becomes a race to the bottom and I'll admit I delight in adding to the warm, heavy, fetid cloud. It's liberating. Sorry.

Last year, the sour room must have been a good 20 degrees warmer than the main hall. That extra heat also allowed the flatulence to diffuse at a much higher and efficient rate.

Well, at least you've owned them in the past with your tweets to the giant TV at FOBAB.

I sent an email earlier this week and just got an invitation for volunteer signup. Once I filled out the signup, I got a response that I'm locked in. Training session in late October, volunteering Friday, free entry for Saturday night.

Any idea if completing the training is required? Thinking of people coming in from out of town who might not be able to make it during the training date(s). @joltinmatt
