LOL, an adult entered the room and you guys got all kiss-ass. "uhhh uhhh when I said that the aisles were a clusterfuck what I meant was that....the aisles are just perfect and waiting in line isn't that bad. I think the aisles should be smaller actually...."

I'd settle for a fest of any type that took place south of I-80. Not sure how/why that isn't already a thing already.

Because a significant majority of the Illinois Population lives in the City and Suburbs.

For the record. There are plenty of beer festivals that happen south of 80. I can think of a particularly good one in Bloomington every summer.

Basis population size? It takes a lot of money to put on an event this size, and you kind of need to know you're going to make a profit.

For the record, I wanted to say that I appreciate all the posts here and didn't take them as bashing or anything of the sort. Just wanted to post to let everyone know a bit more about what the differences were. Cheers~

Indiana seems to do pretty well spreading theirs out. Which I understand is not necessarily a direct analog here, but it's relevant.

The events don't have to be big/huge. Hell, maybe they could just attach themsevles in some way to an existing one like Bruegala (that @jlsims04 mentioned). I'd just love to actually be able to get a benefit out of an IMBiBE sub outside of FoBAB

I'm not sure it is relevant. Chicago is the 3rd biggest city in the US, and its metro area is almost 5.5x the size of Indiana's biggest city (Indianapolis). Looking at some numbers, about 76% of the total population in Illinois lives in the Chicago metro area. Compare that to about 27% of Indiana's population living in the Indianapolis metro area, and I think you see a start difference in how the population of the two states is spread out.

I'm not saying I don't empathize with you a little bit, it's just that Chicago runs Illinois, and that is very unlikely to change.

And Chicago has a great deal of public transportation options which is important for people who are coming in from out of town or want to get home alive.

I think they for sure they can do a better job of getting some non-city breweries/bars participate in IMBIBE membership perks.

I was a member too for a year, and even living in the city, it just wasn't worth it outside of fobab.

They either need to rename the event FoBABMaC or get rid of the Cider and Meads. Actually, that would solve some of the space problem....

What, claim back maybe 10 spaces at the tables?

I appreciate the ciders being there. I actually wish they would up the cider game with more entries aged on fresh wood or wine barrels. Bourbon + cider is not a good combination.

    Disagree.

Then again, I like my ciders dry, and there was a lot of sweet at FOBAB.

At first I agreed, but it's really only about 10 beers in the back of the sour room.

Um, guys....shouldn't they just make it Festival of Barrel Aged Strong Stouts and call it FOBASS?
