FOBAB 2016

Every year I've gone the supervisors have been hard on getting the tickets taken/book stamped since it's a legal thing.

The pour staff is all volunteer though, and I think a lot of them don't really care. Sooo... Last year I think they stamped my book at the whiskey thing, and maybe one other booth. Prior years, I think I spent maybe 5 tickets max.

 

When will they post a brewery/ taplist?

 

They never post a brewery/taplist.. Ever. It's a judged competition.

You'll see leaks of the festival program on Friday once people get their hands on them.

 

See thats the funny thing. To my knowledge Illinois beer events have to be tickets but the number of tickets does not matter. They should just do what Beer Camp did and give everyone 50 tickets or some number that could not possibly get used in a single setting so that people actually collect them.

 

I don't think I've ever used all my tickets, but last year was the first I wasn't given a handful of extras by attendees who called it early.

 

You don't see a complete list until you get the program Friday night.

Generally some breweries will announce what they are bringing beforehand, and there is normally a thread that will list those.

I know of at least one new brewery from Colorado pouring at FOBAB this year

 

Hopefully that brewery is transporting fresh Juicy Bits in a barrel. Why does Greeley have to be so far outside of Denver. (Please lobby to have the RTD stop in front of the brewery).

 

I wish we could bring Juicy Bits. Although barrel-aged Juicy Bits doesn't sound all that appetizing

But we will have BAMA (Barrel Aged Mexican Achromatic) and a barrel aged sour with peaches we haven't released at the brewery yet, which we are calling Peach Climacteric. Looking forward to our first FOBAB!

 

Feel free to bring in some Juicy Bits for a pre-FOBAB gathering!

Very much looking forward to tasting the beers you'll have at FOBAB, though.

I am sure more info will start coming in re: who is coming and what they are bringing, but from a local standpoint, Noon Whistle mentioned they would be pouring this year as well.

This will be my first FOBAB. I will be going to the Saturday PM session. Do people typically line up a few hours before their session starts?

 

You'll get some people lining up, but not for hours. Maybe an hour or so.
