Generally after the beer judges have started doing their thing, which is usually just slightly before the Friday night session starts.

Thanks! One thing that really jumped out: breweries with multiple locations maximizing entries

Pro-tip to those of you going to FOBAB. Hit the HighGrain booth...Aw Shucks and BOOST are both fantastic.

I might be a bit of a homer...but HighGrain pretty much nails every beer they put out.

Overall liked breweries and pours I’ve previously had over any new to me among my standouts.
    • Gold Destihl Saint Dekkera
    • Silver Spiteful Hostile Harry
    • Bronze 2022 Wild Onion Drago
Seedz Kriek was my favorite new to me brewery and pour, hope to hit them up this Spring.

GI had 2 Yr 2022 BW (Bottle) and 2022 regular the first GA hour. 2021 regular and IIRC another vintage second hour. BCBS Coffee (Draft) the third hour (liked Coffee much better than BW, dark roast coffee, BW too sweet but ok to split a bottle). 2021 and 2020 Prop poured in final hour, hard pass (not pouring 2022 Prop or I believe the variants this year, perhaps in the VIP hour). It was a ridiculous line at 9 PM for Prop, but would have passed regardless. Also, no cover for the outside area, so plan accordingly with the expected rain tomorrow.

Bub City Food served in the VIP section once again. BA Lager on the main floor, Light Lagers in the open to GA Lager city and a bunch in the VIP section (picked Goldfinger and Penrose in VIP).

Main floor as crowded as old venue, but seating helps you spread out once you get your pour and relax and enjoy. Got there at 6:15, decent 5-10 minute line still for GA, no line for volunteers.

More than ever, judging by the beer list, this seems to be a year to just try a lot of stuff you might not normally try.

I'm still planning to try and box check some of the hyped ones at the start, but planning to branch out way more than I usually do.

    Thanks for the tips!

Definitely worth a stop. We've stayed in and around Union Pier the last few summers. When his beers are on, they're very good. I've had a few bummers there though. Spot is real nice. I've chatted him up every time I've been there. Nice guy.

I am not/Did not watch the awards, but a fellow BA mentioned that Goose’s 2yr BW was not in the top 3, which seems surprising given all the comments people have made this year. But, it’s all blind, and I’m just a biased prick, so who knows, right? But, this reminded me that I thought someone mentioned awhile back that goose is not eligible for medals, and is only allowed to attend because of their donations or something like that.

Anyone else remember this? Am I crazy?

Where does one find cans of the Mikerphone Barleywine Double LP Side B? Was it a special release or distro/currently at taproom? Rumors in review comments are that FBarber has a stash.

Did More beat out P3 in stouts? Always fun to watch that battle.

Looks like Mehndi Special Reserve '22 won gold in Strong Porter/Stout category. If this is the one aged in ORVW barrels, it is a spectacular BA stout.

Call me crazy, Batch 2 was pretty good but I actually preferred their Batch 1 of the Special Reserve by quite a large margin.
