I think they medaled when making stouts from the Clybourne brewpub. But I could be wrong.

Yeah, and Virtue Cider owned by AB won this go around.

Maybe GI can only submit one or two beers as it wouldn’t be fair to let them submit the +\- 10 they bring.

 

Whaaaaat?!! MVP. Never heard of it and it flew under my radar it was a GI collab.

 

I seem to recall there being something wierd about the release. I feel like I remember it not being available much at release, then seeing it pop up eventually on toast. So, makes sense.

 

It was at Mikerphone and Goose. Goose made its take on smells like bean spirit, and Mikerphone made its take on BCS BW!

 

I had a really big pour tonight on a fresh palate and it was a huge let down honestly. Was really looking forward to it and it just didn’t deliver.

 

All good. I just came from More VP and had Roaming Elephant '22 and BA Coconut City. Both were fantastic. BA Coconut particularly. They're putting out really good BA beers. That part is not really up for debate.

 

My whole group did not understand the love for the Sun King stuff at all. Had multiple pours and none of us really cared for it.

 

It may just be because More makes better stouts than Phase 3.

 

Eh the Eunoia 12 tonight was wonderful and so was the Mendhi.

Soul Shakedown Party caused a negative physical reaction in all 7 people of the group I went with. Can’t understand how that medaled.

 

Eunoia kicked super early in the Saturday session. A bit disappointed there wasn’t better allocation.

 

The hyped beers kick very early every IMBIBE session.

 

The larger mugs didn't help. It's hard to give a small pour.

 

This is why I’m hesitant to do FOBAB unless I spend the extra money for the membership….just for Fobab.

 

I don't see the hype in Eunoia 12. There was absolutely no hint of barrel. And it was extremely sweet. Makes sense to me it didn't medal.

 

Pretty solid another year for FOBAB, I'm happy that they're sticking with this venue. Only thing that bugged me is GI not really bringing much of a 2022 showing. The barleywine was only in bottles and they ran out of those within 20ish minutes on Friday. I got the last pour...

They only poured 2022 base, barleywine and coffee, kind of weak IMO. And the coffee wasn't that great IMO. I'd pick Cafe Deth over it.

On a positive note:
- 2x4 Benthic was great
- Cerebral's Fuego Reserva was stellar, was my fave on friday, glad it won
- More's Roaming Elephant kicked butt
- Jackie O's Endolith was like a thicc VSOJ
- Whoever suggested New Image's 9505, great call! They won Silver too!

 

5 out of 6 in my group felt exactly the same way, my comment was "welp at least I don't have to chase it"
