They sold Focal Banger on two separate occasions this year, once during the official release party in March and again in May for a charity sale. To my knowledge, there have been no other public retail sales of this beer during 2015, nor do they plan to sell it to the public until the new brewery opens up in 2016.

So to answer your initial question, Focal Banger is not currently available for retail purchase.

The cans are, however, available for on-site consumption at most Alchemist restaurant accounts.

Regarding the second half of your question, please refer to the Alchemist (http://alchemistbeer.com/buy/) and Lawson's (http://www.lawsonsfinest.com/find-our-beer/) websites to find their delivery schedules. Hill Farmstead beer is only available for retail purchase at the brewery.

So the only way to get some is through trade or truck sale for now?

i believe they have said that focal won't be available for public sale again until the new brewery opens up. you wouldn't want to trade for any right now, the last cans that were sold are a few months old now.

I'm not sure Three Penny will have Focal as their deliveries are earlier in the week (i.e. they might have run out). It is totally worth going to though. If Three Penny doesn't have it, I would try one of the Waterbury bars, since their deliveries are later in the week.

Thank you guys today's Vermont trip was a success first time at HF and loved it kind of a mission driving from Boston but well worth it's and for those interested in Focal Banger I struck out at Three Penny but they had an amazing tap list of Lawson's and such , as I was giving up I stopped by Positive Pie around the corner from Three Penny in Montpelier and they had plenty of Focal Banger to go around for on site consumption
    Cheers guys

Here is the text from the Alchemist blog:

On Sunday, July 19, much of Barre city, my hometown, was hit by flooding. The water rose to 3 feet in some areas with many homes and businesses being effected. The town of Barre is anxiously awaiting federal assistance. In the meantime, we have decided to partner up with our friends at the Beverage Baron to raise some money for flood recovery assistance. Mayor Lauzon has graciously offered his assistance in setting up a fund so that the money can be made available to those most in need. So, here is the plan…

The Beverage Baron will NOT receive any Heady Topper next week. However, we are going to send them 160 cases of Focal Banger this coming Monday, July 27. Focal Banger is not typically available for retail sale; it is only available for on-premise consumption at bars and restaurants. So, if you have been clamoring for some Focal in your fridge, now is your chance.

The sale of Focal Banger will begin at 2pm. PLEASE, do not show up before before 1:00 pm. The Beverage Baron will be selling cases for $75 plus tax and deposit. (Cash will help expedite sale and is much appreciated). For each case sold, The Alchemist will donate $10 to the Flood Relief Fund. Additionally, the Beverage Baron will donate an additional $10 for a total of $20 per case going to those most in need. The sale of 160 cases will raise a total of $3200.

The Alchemist will also be selling merchandise under a tent. 100% of these sales will be added to the fund. We will also be selling $5 raffle tickets for a Private Brewery Tour and Tasting for 8 with our co-owner/head brewer (and my wonderful husband), John Kimmich. Each brewery tour guest will leave with his/her own tasting glass and a 4-pack of Heady Topper.

When The Alchemist Pub was devastated by Irene flooding less than 4 years ago, countless community members and friends came out to help. John and I were touched by so many caring people; they truly enabled us to persevere and carry on. This is our small way of helping our neighbors in need and inspiring others to do the same.

Thank you for supporting the recovery of Barre City. Our goal is to raise $5000- come on out and help us get there. And, please remember to have lunch at one of Barre’s great restaurants or bars.

Special thanks to the Beverage Baron for partnering with us on this sale!

    -Jen

Agreed, very smoothly run sale today and it was great that it was all for Barre flood relief. Thanks to the Alchemist, Bev Baron and everyone involved for helping out the locals with their donations. I was in and out in around 30 minutes personally, no complaints.

There were about 75 people in line at 1PM and the sale started shortly thereafter (Jen's call, basically so the people in line would not have to bake in the sun for an hour.)

Everything was very organized and people were counted off in groups of ten or so to go buy beer inside Beverage Baron.

People were not allowed to go back in line to buy a second case.

I would imagine that everything basically sold out by 2PM, given what I saw for remaining inventory and the size of the line when I left. I could be wrong, though.

The merchandise tent outside had a variety of things for sale, including Focal Banger t-shirts, tins, Alchemist hats, and a few other items with logos on them.
