Posted on March 29th it looks like. They put a lot of stuff on Instagram that they don't put anywhere else.

I know for sure it was announced on their IG.

Yep. The last 3 releases have all been silent. And it looks like that will be the SOP going forward, except for events like State of Origin.

Good call, I see it now. They have sometimes in the past only posted something on IG though, or posted it there first and elsewhere later.

So does "silent" just mean that there was nothing posted until the day of the release? I guess I was under the impression that meant you literally didn't know about it until walking into the taproom and seeing it for sale.

That was my take as well. They announced BRL a day before selling it.

I guess in this situation it means it won't be a release announced weeks in advance. I think most breweries consider silent releases to be those that they simply put on social media with short notice and sell during normal business hours.

Enough with the "Silent Releases," let's have some "Mystery Releases."

The brewery would say absolutely nothing about the beer on their website, social media, or even in person. The beer would be randomly put on sale, but wouldn't be put on display--you would have to just randomly ask. It wouldn't be on sale every day, just a couple days here and there without any set pattern. The bottles wouldn't even have labels--all you would know is how much it costs and how many you can buy. Batch size is unknown.

Will it be a BA sour or fresh DIPA? Rare one-off or new seasonal? Who knows!

This is possibly the funniest thing I have read on BA to date.

Cracked my bottle of sal last night and it was fantastic! The mezcal/sea salt/chocolate combo gave it this really bitter chocolate flavor, and it definitely tasted different than it did at the 2nd anniversary, but it was still amazing. I even let it warm to see if I would get the sour flavors everyone has talked about. None of that, just a complex interesting well done Imperial Stout.

Sal was indeed sour. It was a very odd beer. Not very good.

You must have had a bad bottle then. It's not supposed to be sour. Mine was great.

Seeing as there is an infection in that batch of Sal, most bottles that have not been stored cold will start to turn.

For those in the triangle, Beets Rhymes and Life is at State of Beer, it appeared they had at least 2+ cases. I think Tasty got some also.

Oh my gf works four miles from both Tasty and State of Beer. Where as I am at Duke...maybe I should ask her to pick me up a bottle :flushed:

Yeah - I noticed they got some in over the weekend, so I swung by yesterday evening after work to see if any was left and they had a bunch (2-3 cases) sitting by the register. $13 I think it was.

Snagged a bottle from Tasty, was 13.99 which is a lot better than me having to drive to Morganton to get it! They also had a bit of Jester King. And I know Sams had some JK too. I wonder if that will regularly start popping up.

Probably not. The last time we got a JK delivery in the Piedmont was almost 2 years ago. :slight_frown:
