I recently bought two bottles of fonteinen schaerbeekse kriek, they were $35 dollars each and they are from 2008. I am wondering if they have any trade value. It has been stored for the past four years in a temp controlled room. I am just not sure what the value of this kind of thing is, I knew it was worth something but I hope I am able to trade it? Let me know if this is a good trade piece or if I should just drink them myself.

    Thanks

Drink one. Trade one. Once you drink one you can decide how it held up. I've seen them as part of FT: Lists before, but never 1:1 or anything like that. Hope this helps!

It doesn't seem to trade as well as I'd expect -- it's quite possibly my favortie Kriek (above Lou Pepe)

I'd be willing to trade you for it just because in the back of my mind I feel like trying as much of the Top 250 as possible, as silly as it sounds :stuck_out_tongue:

I am currently in talks with another BA to trade for Schaerbeekse Kriek. When I did a little research I found that there seems to be a little uncertainty as to what is considered "Schaerbeekse Kriek".

The BA mentioned informed me that his label is Oude Kriek van Schaerbeekse Krieken 35%. The beer in question is from 2011. I have been told that "Schaerbeekse Kriek" and "Oude Kriek van Schaerbeekse Krieken 35%" are the American and Euro labels, respectively, for the same beer. Can anyone shed some light on this?

This is correct. I have bottles from 2010 and 2011 with both the American and Euro labels.

Good luck finding more Schaerbeekse Kriek from 3F in the future. Armand bottled only a very small quantity in 2012, none in 2013 and there are no plans to bottle it in 2014. There are too few trees left in the area around Brussels today to make a reasonably sized batch that would be affordable (according to Armand). So, for now, he is not planning on making it in the short term...but didn't rule out making it at all.

That said, he and Michael have plans to plant Schaerbeekse cherry trees on a plot of land not far from the current brewing site in Beersel. With dedication, good fortune and time, Schaerbeekse Kriek may return to the regular rotation of 3F beers.

Its an excellent beer, pricey but delicious. I'd be drinking those babies
