Fooled by my hydrometer...

Just brewed my first batch. Got the recipe off Beersmith for a Citric IPA. My measured OG was 1.07 which according to my hydrometer scale was way out of the beer range. Beersmith suggested I should have gotten about 1.05. Alas, I panicked and diluted it with a gallon of distilled water to get it down to 1.05....

Now days later I see IPA OG's fall up to and even over 1.07... What have I done?!? I'm sure it'll be fine, but what can expect from my blunder?

Relax. You can expect to end up with beer.

Also don't forget to correct for temperature in Beersmith if you didn't.

You mean it came in at 1.070, which was over what the recipe called for which was a 1.050?
What can you expect? A good problem of at least a gallon more beer. I'd much rather have my gravity come in over my target than under it. Under it means I have to work, and risk making silly decisions
Ignore it, and take a gravity reading in a week.
My guess is if you used beersmith to generate your recipe that the recipe is designed for a different system, or for a larger batch and what you got is probably "accurate" for what you are brewing on and with.
