In the past they've said that it's a different beer every time; the first time I had it (a couple years ago) it was my favorite DIPA. The last time I tried it, it tasted more like a slightly thinner version of Permanent Funeral.

Any idea as to whether they're using the same recipe nowadays, or is it still different every time?

Had it for first time last weekend so cannot say if it changed and it was very good but not the best DIPA. Slightly more flavorful than Senita/Heyoka.

Yeah that sounds kind of like the last time I had it (I like Heyoka a lot, and they share a similar hop profile if I remember correctly).

I like Heyoka a lot too and they were pretty similiar. Like you said in the original post, it is definately thinner than a lot of DIPAs. I would probably pick up a 4 pack of Heloka over a bomber of Navaja at the same price. I know the Navaja growler was $6 dollars more too.

Navaja is fine, but it's a much better bang for your buck to buy Heyoka/Senita cans.

Yeah I know, I've had Heyoka a couple times and really like it. I'm mostly curious if they're still messing with the Navaja formula, or if they've decided to stick with the one they've used recently.

It's a lot of Mosaic, with a bunch of other C hops, and with some hop extract, the only beer they use hop extract in...per one of the brewers. And they do change the hops every time. The version that had a lot of hallertau blanc a couple batches ago was my fave. The last one was too oniony for me. This one's very complex, I like it almost as much as the hallertau one. What you might be experiencing as "thin" is likely how very dry this beer is for a DIPA. Very little sweetness makes it very drinkable. I'm sticking with this brew when I'm in the tap room this weekend until I can't drink no more.

Well, I think I got that right...I was drinking when they were talking about it...

Well, that all sounds pretty possible. I really liked the last Navaja I tried, but it wasn't nearly as unique (to me) as the batch I had had before. Oniony is definitely part of how I would've described it. Hallertau blanc, eh?

Half Acre and Pipeworks have each made some beers with hallertau blanc the past year or so. That hop must have some nutrient my body needs. I love it. Grassy, white wine, bitter but not pine or citrus. Love.

Yeah, I gotta try more stuff with that hop. Also, I went to Half Acre over the weekend, and you were right, this latest batch is really solid (2nd favorite so far).
