Forbidden Root (2018)

A friend was nice enough to gift me a can of Radio Swan...I haven't had a chance to crack it yet, but I can say that this is some of the best label art in Chicago.

I've always found Forbidden Root's artwork a bit generic, so bravo on the upgrade!

 

I like the artwork on the botanical six packs- its kitschy- like a 1900's science textbook art. That being said, the more modern and aggressive art makes sense for the NEIPAs...

I am not a Negroni fan, but was impressed at how well Industry Night emulated one. It will be interesting to see which other cocktails they can make with beer. I know Pipeworks does mock cocktails, but it isn't the same at home from a bomber as it is with FR's draft, chilled glass and garnish embellishing it (also, the beer mocktail for the same taste is about half the price as a Negroni made by a mixologist...).

Radio Swan was interesting, but if they had all their NEIPAs on draft, I'd probably go with one of their other options.

I can't stress enough that this is just a great place to hang out with tons of interesting stuff to try if you aren't hung up on chasing a certain style.

 

Finished my last can of Radio Swan last night.

When and what is the next can release? Is it Atomic Child up next?

 

Next up is Snoochie (w/ new art).
Release date is, tentatively, 8/10

Then another Radio Swan a couple weeks after that...
Then Atomic Child the first week of Sept...

New DIPA is being brewed this Thursday. We're going to keep the Ghost Tropic name (because we like it) but completely re-tool the beer. So, if you didn't like GT (I understand)...be sure to give GTv2 a try I'll post tasting notes on it when possible.

Night Moth will be coming this fall to cans too. Brewing the first batch of this for pub release next week. IPA aged on American oak.

Still waiting on the green light from Floyds about Stay Lit.

 

Ghost Tropic was by far my least favorite of the you NE offerings so far, so I'm looking forward to the new version. Glad you mentioned it on here or I probably would have never tried v2.

 

Iron&Glass in Romeoville got a case of Radio Swan today. Sold out in about 90 minutes. Super psyched to get to try it!

Cracked Radio Swan tonight...woah, this is the sweetest rye beer I've ever had!! Since I usually find rye too dry in an IPA I thought it the lactose was a nice touch. I wasn't a bit Snoochie fan, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

I never did get a chance to try Stay Lit, really hope that one gets made again.

Lakeview Binny's got some Radio Swan in today, but not much. I grabbed a 4 pack and it looked like there were 5 more or so. They very well may have only gotten a case and I was grabbing the first one. Was just hoping to get a 4 pack of Mango Guppy for the weekend, and lucked into Radio Swan as well.

 

I was also lucky enough to find the swan way out in the burbs! First time Forbidden Root anything for me.
It is so creamy and delicious!

 

I missed out on Radio Swan last weekend. Glad to see its still popping up in places. Will be up Fri/Sat and hoping there's some small chance I can get lucky and find it...

 

I spotted 5 4pks of RS at Garfields on Milwaukee Ave a moment ago.

Way too easy to drink. I cracked one after mowing the lawn yesterday. Before I knew it I was pouring number 3.

 

Yeah, I don't love Malort (don't understand people who claim to), but I also don't have an issue with it (I will drink pretty much any type of regulated hard liquor). That sounds like it could be interesting.
