Hi... Am hoping to visit the Kellers on my next trip in September... anyone have a good website for the Kellerwald? I found one which seems to be the official site, but it only had info on opening hours for about half the Kellers... Vielen Dank!!
It has been a few years but I seem to remember that about 10-12 of them are only open during Annafest. Totally a guess but I'd suggest Thursday, Friday 3pm or later, Saturday anytime after noon. Sunday the same but I seem to remember a couple being closed on Sunday. Mon-Wed works too but you will run into Ruhetage. Go and enjoy the ones that are open
We went on a Friday night a few years ago and there were only about 8-10 open. Only a couple were crowded. It was a bit disappointing but still worth the visit. If I go there again, I'll take a cab up that hill!
I'm assuming you're referring to this website: https://www.forchheim-erleben.de/de/kulinarik/kellerwald/ The following website indicates which kellers are only open during Annafest (look for an asterisk next to the keller name). http://www.alladooch-annafest.de/Bierkeller_Fest.html Here are the hours for other kellers based on my research: Schaef-Keller, May-Sep, Wed-Sun from 6 pm Staeffala-Keller, Daily from 4 pm, Sat from 2 pm, Sun from 10 am, Mon Ruhetag Eichhorn-Keller, Daily from 4 pm, Sat from 12 pm, Sun from 9 am, Mon Ruhetag Also, I recommend purchasing this book if you're looking for more info about Bierkellers and Biergartens in Franconia. It's in German but the format makes it easy to read the opening times for non-German speakers. https://www.amazon.de/schönsten-Bierkeller-Biergärten-Franken-Freizeittipps/dp/3931683354
For walking up the hill, follow the signs to the left, as that takes you to Keller 13. Straight up the hill takes you to Keller 22, and that is steep. Done it both ways.
