Never really see a thread about these guys on here, except the occasional mention that they make good beers. What are their releases like? Long lines or does stuff sit around? s there any distro in the city or brewery only? How's the food?

Thinking of making a trip one of these weekends...I always forget to because there's never a thread to remind me on these forums!

Can't speak to their releases, but they have a really nice spot with solid food and really interesting beer. I highly recommend them, especially if you're into saison/farmhouse type stuff

It has been a quite some time (too long) since I have been there. They do indeed make high quality Saison/Belgian Ales but just as good is their English style ales which really 'shine' on cask. I have heard the food is very good but I have personally never eaten there.

    Cheers!

I go here pretty often. Great spot to have a couple beers. As others have said, they specialize in Belgian (mostly farmhouse) and English style beers. There is always a beer or two on handpump which is cool. The food is very solid pub fare (sandwiches, snacks, mussels). The grilled cheese is surprisingly great (try it with the onion jam and bacon!). Trivia on Thursdays is fun too, although I find it surprisingly difficult compared to other trivias. Bottle releases are relatively low key, although some draw a sizeable crowd. I'm wondering if the release on Sunday will be one of those.

I can't say there's a cooler location I've had a beer in. Their beers are usually excellent and the food is also really good. Definitely recommended.

Never gone to any bottle releases - that's not my kind of thing.

But as others have said - their English style cask beers are excellent, and the food is very good (but limited menu).

Should also add that its a fairly small location, especially in the non-warm months. The bar sits maybe 7 people at most, plus a few stools and standing room. Then there are probably 8-10 tables in the dining area. When the porch and lawn are open though (pretty much April through October I guess) the capacity about doubles. Also, they are working on turning the warehouse-type building next door into an expanded/second location which should exponentially increase their capacity and also their output, I believe.

I recall reading about this quite some time ago (over a year ago?). Any idea on the status of this expansion?

    Cheers!

I recently heard that the township gave them trouble regarding parking around this time last year and the entire project had to be put on hold for many months, but it is now back on track. I don't know when it is actually scheduled to be done, and I get the feeling they're taking their time, but I'm hoping before winter hits (that part is just a guess).

As others have said Forest and Main stands out from other brewers because of their focus on farmhouse saisons, English style beers, and hand-pump cask offerings. If that's something you're interested in it could be worth the trip.
Agreed. If you go to F&M on a busy weekend evening, I would have a back-up place in mind in case it's too crowded for you to enjoy your time/beer.

If your route from NJ passes anywhere near Yardley I recommend stopping by Vault Brewing if you haven't been. Good beer and food aside, I think just seeing their conversion of a classic early 1900's bank into a brewery is worth the side trip, but I have a thing for historical buildings.

Going to try and head to this release around 3 or 4 when I get back in town on Sunday. Is this even a thing or is it usually gone pretty quickly?

Of the last two bottle releases, I think some stuck around for a few days but the collaboration with Almanac and Mckenzie's sold out within a few hours.

I'll be away for the weekend and hoping that some bottles make it until Monday this time.

Anybody know if there are any moeder seizoen bottles left at f&m? I know they're closed todAy at and I think I read that dry hop sold out but I'm hoping there will be some of the other 2 available tomorrow.

Dry hop definitely sold out. Currant was on the verge as well. I think they had plenty of Moeder left. Most people passed on that since it was already released in the past. I have no doubt in my mind its still there.

I got the last bottle of currant available at about 2:00 P.M. on Sunday. They still had the base Moeder available at that time.

Per Instagram, they had four cases of regular Moeder at opening today.

Do the fill growlers? I see from their site/instagram they sold crowlers at a Farmers Market. Are these available at the brewery? Will be in the area in the next week or two and hope to swing by.

They fill growlers at the brewery but not with the beers that are hand pumped (bitters and some other English styles). The crowlers are at the farmers market (very nearby the brewery) on Saturday mornings and I haven't seen them for sale at the brewery but I can't say for sure.

If you check the site and see a beer says "hand pump" or "cellar temperature" then that won't be available in growlers but they'll fill a growler with the other beers like an IPA or a saison. I hope your visit goes well, aim for Saturday morning if you want the crowlers because they have sold out sometimes.
