Aerating the beer on the way to the bottling bucket is a bad move, unless you want stale, oxidized beer.

I think even the larger one takes longer than 5 minutes to drain 5.5 gallons of beer, but...I had to go back to using the smaller one, having broken the big one.

But thinking about it, I actually am too lazy to stand there even for 5 minutes, holding a paint strainer bag tightly around an auto siphon, when I can just duct tape it.

    Maybe 2 minutes...

I appreciate your point but am not certain I agree. In my humble opinion, the hose should come down to the bottom of the bottling bucket, the bag shouldn't be "taught" over the end of the hose, and the flow of the wort isn't that fast. So the effect is minimal at best and NOTHING compared to the oxidation that will already be introduced by the bottling process. Anybody who is prone to worrying about oxidation on that small of a level probably already has / should just take the plunge and get a kegging setup.

Your right im thinking racking from brew brew kettle to fermentor. You can still use the funnel with the screen to filter out the dry hop addition as long as your gentle with the the flow

I wouldn't. No matter how gently you pour beer through a screen, you're going to aerate it. Much more than with a submerged siphon hose.

I guess im worried more about infection at this point with 2trying to submerge something in the beer. You can position the funnel so the beer runs done the side if the bucket it doesn't produce much if any foam

You can submerge just about any 'something' you want in the beer, as long as it's free of crud and has been sanitized. Many (most?) of us have at some point used sanitized hop bags, stockings, paint bags, etc. to cover the business end of a racking cane, and/or to hold dry hops.

I can oxygenate beer in many ways without producing much foam. But so what? Ever wonder why streams and rivers, even slow moving ones, contain more oxygen than ponds and lakes?
