I've always wondered if Stone could have succeeded if they chose Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, or even Norway rather than Germany. Maybe it was better logistically, but they couldn't have chosen a tougher home market for their philosophy.
I'll be curious to see how BrewDog does. Their pubs seem to do strong business no matter where they are, so they seem to know what they're doing.

Brodog will do fine, as there are pricks in every country.

It would be rough going in Belgium, I am willing to bet, given the price point. Yes, there is a bit more market for bigger-ticket beers than in Germany, as you see with people slashing out €10 or more for 75cls of seasonal brews. But it would be hard to push a price point well above the local norm for stuff that’s not seen as much of a departure in a place not unaccustomed to some extreme stuff. I’m thinking about bottle of unsold American stuff in my grocery … The Nordic markets might be more used to higher prices, if you can work through the regulations. Or Britain?
