I went to Fort Brewery today with my family. We've gone before and when they were Chimera and never enjoyed their beer. But at the beginning of COVID my friend started working there so we gave them another try. Apparently they're actively working to turn things around at least for the beer. With a focus on keeping everything properly cleaned and they have a measuring device to monitor the cleanliness. They also found a microscope and are building a lab. I drank the Clara kölsch and it was really good. I'm going to go back to have it again. I know right now they have new batches of their kölsch, mexican lager, and IPA. And they're working to finish up new batches of all their standard beers. I look forward to seeing how the brewery goes from here.
Well their first task should probably be to torch their entry here and put up a new one. If they are truely new management I don't think they would want those beers/reviews listed under their name. Seems they weren't to well regarded in the past
It looks like they only have 1 review for each beer and the brewery itself from back in 2015. It looks like that was soon after they pushed out the deadbeat original owner and rebranded as Chimera Brewing. Then they changed ownership again in 2018 and rebranded as Fort Brewery & Pizza. The beer reviews are around the 3's. It looks like review pages for most of the breweries in the area. For some reason Beer advocate ratings are utterly worthless in North Texas. If a brewery does taproom only sales they will only have 1 review for each beer. If they package and distribute they will only have about 30 reviews for most beers.
Reviews and information are only as good as what the users put in. If you or other people know of updates submit them and they will be changed, and add accurate reviews. I know thats not everybody's thing, and thats fine but its only as good as the info submitted by users. I try to keep what I know about Houston area breweries/bars/etc as up to date as I can, but even then its not perfect without others to help.
It's not that I think there's wrong information out there. I haven't noticed that. I'm just saying that I can't look up if a beer or a brewery is good or bad using Beeradvocate because there are no reviews for North Texas beers. I know if I want something done then maybe I should do it myself... But then there'd just be 1 maybe 2 reviews on beers from around here and it would still be useless because other people aren't reviewing beers here on Beer advocate.
