I've read the threads - great info, so thanks for that. My question: I'm flying to Fort Lauderdale for a conference next week but only have Sunday and Monday night free. As many breweries are closed Monday, on Sunday do I either: 1) head north to Jupiter and visit Civil Society, probably stop by Barrel of Monks in Boca or 2) head south to Miami and visit J Wakefield, Wynwood, Boxelder, perhaps others On Monday I plan to visit Funky Buddha as they are open. Other bars planned that night based on threads. Cheers!
never been to Civil Society but people here talk highly of it. Wynwood has the convenience of the 2 breweries, boxelder if you don't have a total wine nearby for bottles, and good places to eat. I'm not a big Wynwood Brewery guy, they make good core beers but every time I've gone it's the same stuff, wish they would experiment a little more. I prefer J Wakefield.
Civil Society would get my vote, unless you are big on Belgians I'd pass on Barrel of Monks and try Due South in Boynton instead.
civil society in jupiter is 1 hour from ft laud whereas Wynwood on a Sunday is like 30 min and in Wynwood you can hit J Wakefield and some other good spots. I would do Wynwood but on Sunday go in afternoon or early evening so everything should be open.
If you head down to Miami, I'd pass on Wynwood Brewing and Boxelder. Hit up JWB, Kush (burger spot with an excellent bottle selection, but it will run your pockets), MIA Brewing (is it just me, or do these guys not get enough recognition? Their sours are pretty good and they usually have some great guest taps), and Mendez Fuel (gas station with a growler/crowler fill station that has great local stuff, plus they have a really good bottle selection as well).
Kush and The Mighty are pretty great. The Mighty just won Best Beer Bar in Florida, so you should definitely stop by! http://www.craftbeer.com/great-american-beer-bars-2016
