I live about 10 minutes away so I've been looking forward to having a new brewery nearby. They have a nice set-up with the brewery in the front of the building and a nice bar/tasting room in the back. For those who don't know, the brewery is named after Fort Nonsense, located at the highest point in downtown Morristown, which was built during the Revolutionary War during the two winters in which the Continental Army encamped nearby. The name derives from the legend that the fortifications were built solely to keep the troops occupied. The brewery is located on Route 10 in Denville, about 10 minutes from downtown Morristown

There was a long line today that moved very slowly. I waited almost 2 hours from the time I arrived until I was served. This shot was taken close to the front of the line and doesn't do justice to the number of people behind me.

The folks at the brewery are really nice; I think they were overwhelmed by the number of patrons. I had pint pours of the Amber Ale (the flagship beer) and the Arnold Tavern's Porter (#4 - not the coffee variant). I think the Amber Ale needs some work and the Porter is pretty good. I wouldn't expect super beer on the first day and I'm sure the quality will improve, just as it has at Twin Elephant which has really stepped up and is brewing excellent beer. I'm just glad to have another local brewery and I'll stop by frequently.

I guess they're trying to cut down on the lines releasing a new low calorie beer. Calling it a "Session American Ale." I guess it's a cream ale or some shit?

Funny, I thought they were trying to cut down on the lines by alienating a good portion of their customers and offering increased discounts to Patriots fans. :grimacing:

I honestly didn't know what they were saying here. If they were saying they'd give you an extra dollar off for pats jersey or if it was that they'd charge you $2 more. I feel like they meant a $2 discount and just failed miserably trying to be cute.

I had a growler of the Saison Absurdite today. I think it's the best of the beers offered so far. It's certainly not at the level of Hennepin, Sofie or the Belgian Saisons but it's a good, solid beer of the style and, if they give it the time and attention to details it deserves, it will be a solid Saison.

I get it but there are a lot of Jets fans too. It's an odd decision is all I'm saying, especially after only being open for one week. I've lived in NJ for most of my life but I lived in Boston for 5 years. I can say with certainty that a Massachusetts brewery would never give an extra discount to a Jets fan under any circumstances.

Went here for the first time last week - was kind of underwhelmed:

Arnold's Tavern Porter (with Coffee) - Tasted kind of flat but was decent.
Fresh Coat - Wasn't a fan. Didn't have much flavor to it.
Victory on the Delaware - Decent.
General Wheatington - The worst of the beers I had. Tasted like dish water. Only had a taster of it but it was extremely tough to get through.

These were the only beers they had on tap when I got there so maybe the other beers are more enjoyable. I'll give them some time before I visit again. Wishing these guys nothing but the best.

Some burtal ratings. If you're a new brewery - wouldn't you want to be on top of this? Seems like it's been getting hammered for a while, perhaps it worth taking it off the board so more people don't pay for a beer that obviously has something wrong with it?

I know untappd can be really finicky and one person's 3 may be another person's 5, but that's a lot of <1 ratings with comments.

Visited Fort Nonsense a couple of weeks ago. Most of the beers were better than average, I liked the Pale Ale with Tangerine (The Teeth Were a Lie) and the Hefeweizen was pretty good.

Not to sound like a jerk, but the price of a flight ($12) seemed quite high.
