I'll be in Fort Worth on business beginning Saturday afternoon.4/29. Staying near the convention center. I've gone through the threads here and places so I have an idea what's around. Not having a car limits me a bit.Any must go to places or any to be avoided? Always like the locals input.

    Thanks and cheers!

My wife and I love going to the T&P Tavern. It's located in the old diner on the ground floor of the 1930's Art Deco train station... Just down the road from the Convention Center (less than .5 miles depending on where you exit the Convention Center building).
They've had a good beer selection there.

I don't know how dangerous it is to walk under I-30 but Collective and Hopfusion are both less than a mile south of the Convention Center, with Rahr a little farther away.
Collective has the best sours in DFW, and I like a bunch of the beers at Hopfusion.

Walking the other direction will get you into downtown FW. All my friends are fond of going to the Flying Saucer there.
I see there is also a Brass Tap. I've only been to the location in Round Rock, TX but I assume the Fort Worth location is good.

As mentioned above, if you are into sours, Collective brewing is a must hit. Rahr is a fun brewery but their beers a pretty subpar I think. Hopfusion has a great rotating tap and some pretty interesting beers. Pouring glory is a craft beer bar where you can get a great taste of a bunch of DFW beers. Lastly although I've never been, I've heard Chimera brewing has some solid options. If my memory serves me right all of these options above are all within a pretty close vicinity and a quick Uber from the convention center.

If you have a little more time, my personal two favorite breweries in Ft Worth are Martin House and Panther Island.

If you need an awesome place to eat, Joe T Garcia's is a must. Huge venue with great outdoor seating and even better Mexican food.

    Cheers!

With Rahr I love Ugly Pug (schwarzbier's are probably my favorite beer style). The Blonde is a fairly good helles lager. I personally like the Pride of Texas pale ale but it's basically just a standard pale ale so may not be exciting for many people.
Two or so years ago I was really enjoying their Summertime Wheat... I thought that after Live Oak it was the best weizen from Texas... But that is probably not available yet.

I've also really enjoyed the Texas Red/Buffalo Butt... But normally it's just an alternative for drinking Shiner at places that don't normally sell craft beer... A little maltier and less metallic tasting.

I haven't tried their new IPA "Dadgum IPA" but I'm highly anticipating Bucking Bock their Maibock this year.

The brewery makes good classic beers. They also have a number of beers more in keeping with the American Craft Beer scene... But I haven't had those in a long time so can't really say as much about them.

@rmdownward Any breweries you should go to or try their beers will really depend on what you like in beer.

Do you like balanced beers and good takes on classic styles? Do you like breweries trying to incorporate new and different ingredients? Do you like breweries trying to push the envelope while still brewing beers (without adding additional flavorings).
Do you like German styles. Do you like English styles. Do you like IPA's, or stouts, or sour beers? Do you like strong beers or do you prefer sessionable beers?

To add to (and possibly contradict DWood)
The wife and I went to Chimera recently... The beers were alright. I thought the english styles were pretty good. The one that I enjoyed the most was a "roman empire" beer with myrtle for flavoring... It was very interesting.

That's where DWood and I differ. I personally really do not like either Panther Island or Martin House. Cannonball is an alright scotch ale (I prefer Rahr's Iron Thistle). But I really dislike Allergeez and Tailgater, and I did not like IPf'nA but I haven't had it in a few years.

Martin House. I like their gose, and I've drank a handful of their bock at my local Wing restaurant... But I've disliked the rest of their beers. Some are just way to underattenuated, some (Juice) had a horrible astringent bitterness, some are sickly sweet.
